BOO! Cambridge, Somerville, and MWRA dumped 51 million gallons of *untreated* sewage pollution in the flood-prone Alewife Brook in 2021. That is the same volume that they discharged in 1994, before any work was done as part of the Boston Harbor Cleanup. In 2019, they dumped 23 million gallons of *untreated* sewage pollution in the Alewife. In 2018, they dumped 16 million gallons. The ridiculous legal limit is 6.29 million gallons per year. This video is pushing a false narrative using "average year" or "typical year" MODELING, rather than *real* metered data, to claim that the situation is 85% better in the Alewife. So, what is the "average year" or "typical year" model? It's a model that the MWRA created to prove legal compliance and it is based it on historical weather data going back to 1949! Climate change is happening now, folks. We demand that Climate Change projections are included in CSO modeling. We demand a complete end to untreated sewage pollution in our rivers and streams! We demand green infrastructure to clean stormwater! The Alewife Brook has been abused for long enough! There is a long history of inequity in the area, starting with the North Cambridge Almshouse - a sort of poor people's prison on a piggery - near the Alewife at Tannery Brook. This inequity continues today. Stop making people sick with your sewage!
A lot of talk of storm water but no mention of the millions of gallons of raw sewage Cambridge discharges into the Alewife during storm events. I'd like to hear your plan to close CSO's so this waste won't flow through my back yard and into my basement during flood events. Also besides human waste does Cambridge know what else is in these discharges.
Why not use a loader and a snowblower?
I thought this was the REAL cambridge

Thank you for the thorough presentation!
It is too much to ask residents to supply their own compostabke bags. At Greener Bay Compost, we put bags in our 5 gallon buckets for our subscribers. This ensures our buckets are easy to clean AND that the bags are actually compostable.

Yay for stink bags and whiny customers

So if my house has fleas, ticks, cockroaches, tics or I use my cloth bag for dirty diapers in the car you have no problem with that in your store? Just checking.
Who created this stupid ordnance? Reusing bags is extremely unsanitary, and this is just another ploy for city council to tax us.
+Frank Chan Exactly why if i was a cashier want to use someones else bag and i could get sick from touching it and i dont know where it came from either, i just went into a cvs today right just to get water and they asked if i wanted to buy a bag for 10 cents. And i travel from boston alot to shop in Cambridge.
