Spartacus Part 8 - Build Highlights Pt1
Anyone else miss this guys videos? Hope he's doing well.
Thanks. I'm looking at a 5 Axis retrofit and 95% sure I'll go with UCCNC. I was looking at the AXB board but dont like the lack of inputs. That said, the machine is fairly simple but I'd like to buy once and not struggle with Breakout boards etc. I then spotted the UB-1, looked at their site, the saw the MB3. Other than price, what's the major difference between these please?
Both of these videos are great, thanks for taking the time to share.
Hello Daz, I would like to connect with you to work on a probing project.
У меня возник вопрос, какое напряжение на выходах Step, Dir ?
5V
Do you do some mach4 programming. I need the spindle changed to laser with M3 and M5 commands to turn it off and on. Also need air assist programed with a gcode so it can be controlled. Let me know if you are interested in doing this and what would you charge. Thank you.
.
Super useful.. i was in a similar situation... got it to my garage but then I was like ohh christ how do I get this inside and on my workbench... So im going to have to do the same. I managed to get the crate just inside the garage with a crowbar and some wheels but yeah its just sitting there now and I dont really want to fork out for an engine hoist.
I purchased one of these from Amadeal last week. Those guys are great, they answered all my questions and event included a free drip tray. cant fault them.
@dazthegas2001 can you help me script a simple button to light up output17 in mach4??
great video! where can i find documentaion you have used at minute 6:55
You will find this in your mach4 docs directory called Mach4CoreAPI
Hi Daz, I don't understand why you do the first z probing action. Is it really needed. ?
Thanks, that's exactly what i am searching for. Great work
hi Dazz awesome video what would be the conditional to make a sound when an axis reaches a limit? will it go on the screen script or in the PLC script?
Im using MACH3 with this board make it a video like so.
There is already a softlimits button on the screen, perhaps the developers should have exposed the underlying function. Now you are writing code in the LUA which mimics a button that does exactly the same thing.
I am surprised that there have been so few comments over the 6 yrs since publishing. Who knew what to do with the HomeSpeed% in the Mach Config? This is quite effective treatment on the topic, especially for those that are new to Mach4. Thanks Daz I might actually be able to RefAll Home for the very first time after this ;-)
The Video is a bit outdated now and the setup is differernt. All ESS settings are done from the ESS config dialog.
This is a great video have you considered sharing you code?
I bought the MB3 and ESS as a combo from CNC Room and am pleased with quality. A good choice for upgrading a cheap USB card that came with my turnkey system. Mind you, the pitch or spacing between spring terminals on the MB3 insist on either solid copper conductors as in Cat5e type (24awg) or smallest sized crimp ferrules over stranded copper. And even then, there will be no space to spare if making multiple connections. Unlikely one would manage inserting tinned leads without the use of expletives. And then how can you ID the terminations? Existing wiring were fitted with ferrules that barely fit in the tiny aperture as are those of the MB3. I had to slide off the heat shrink ID sleeves to manage in several instances.
for me is imposible understand how to wire it.. i saw your video ess/mb3 and your mods, probe is x204 port 2 pin 4 but were other wires? 0v? .. we need put 24v in anywere.. i dont understand diagrams.. i understand photos.
Hi. I have the same machine coming, do you have drawings available for the conversation plates? 👌👌
Hi. I found your channel while researching milling machines. I really like your vids but I'm sad to see you've not posted for quite some time now. Any reason? They are very good.
Well you never know there could be one soon 🙂
Can you make a video to turn on a relay with Mach4
How do access macros which are now moved to mach4 core like m3 and m4
can i enable keyboard inputs on mach4 startup??
How to create a you own plugin
Thanks. I noticed something weird. Once a timer is fired, say 1000ms one shot, but within that time if you try to stop the timer, it wont stop.
What about Z height?
Hello. I have something to ask about MB3. About OSSD. I use a servo amplifier, but I have already put the servo-on signal in series to open and close the servo-on and magnetic contactor. Therefore, when the servo is turned off, it will stop. Does MB3 still have to use OSSD?
Nice to meet you. I'd like to get in touch with you on this article, is that okay? I have something to tell you. Please give me a reply. Thanking you in advance.
Hello Daz! Your videos are awesome and very easy to understand! I have a question, and kindly asking for your help. Is there a way to create your own homing sequence? Just like clicking individually the RefX RefY RefZ buttons? I have a hotwire foam cutter, with 4 motors on X and 2 on Y, I want to write a script for a custom homing sequence which would look like this, Press "HomeAll", homes y, moves y up 1inch (so it won't drag the wire across the table), then home X. Every motor has it's own induction limit switch. Thank you! Robert.
sorry if this is a horribly stupid question, but what is the ESS?
I'm sure you've received an answer long ago, but in the event that you haven't, it stands for Ethernet Smooth Stepper. A wonderful piece of solid state circuitry brought to the hobby CNC market by Warp 9.
Can you tell me which probe that is you are using ? I have not been able to find a optical probe ike that that has wire for the "contact" sensing.
instead of soldering the pads they should have provided dip switches
Is very god!!
Very helpful! Thanks
thank you for the information. Where can I download the latest version of the plugin?
Also looking for script, Thanks

:-) We Brits definitely aren't as polished as our US cousins. Some of the videos coming out of there are astounding quality, but you're bang on with your assessment of a lack of UK content on this sort of stuff. Looking forward to seeing the conversion. I'm thinking of getting one of these mills - or the bigger one, so would be nice if you did a review with your thoughts on quality, as I've seen mixed reviews. Thanks for posting, I appreciate it takes a lot of time to put videos together.
Hello DaztheGas I need to add atc in mach 4, can you help, my email : "manthanpatel45@yahoo.com" Awaiting to hear from you. Please provide your email or whatsapp
Impressed with your videos and approach to this conversion. Have you added to the completed assembly drawing on Fusion 360 to include the X axis and ball nut mounts?
Thank you for showing this video- I was struggling with the exact problem!
Your Welcome
Hello Daz, from the Philippines. I am just getting into CNC and I have not used MACH 3 at all so trying hard to learn MACH 4. Your videos have taught me a great deal and I thank you for that. I have a question though, you advised us to create our own profile in MACH 4 to make any changes we need to etc etc.... however I noticed that on the M6 toolchange tutorial you were NOT using your created profile.. DO i make these M6 toolchange scripts in my own newly created profile or in the MACH 4 generic profile, in other word do I make these modifications in "MY_MILL" OR in the MACH4 Mill profile proper.... Appreciate any help or advice you can give. Kind regards, Bruce.
You make them in your own custom profile, on a lot of my videos I use the mach4mill profile just because its there..
@@dazthegas2001 Thank you Mate, I thought that was the case. Perhaps if I have further questions you would be willing to answer for me...
For gods sake, nobody - NOBODY wash your face with caustic soda! Unless you're happy to not have a face anymore.
Daz, is there anyway youd be willing to share your lua coding? I am by no means a coder and I really struggle with it. I can setup a machine to run a cycle and fabricate all kinds of stuff, but the coding simply whips me and really, takes the fun out of operating my mill.
How do you control 24v servo's with the Axis side 5v?
thanks for that daz info been driveing me nuts trying to find a way round it
Thanks, Daz!
Hi Daz, I have been running the MB2 for 3 years and looking to use the MB3 on a new build. At 0:56 I noticed you have 4 wires connected from your drivers to the MB2. I would really be interested in how you set this up as I only found instruction showing dir- and pul- being connected and 5V going to dir+ and pul+ with ena+ and ena- not being connected. Any help would be appreciated.
