Removing Diamond Shield
Do you have Diamond Shield (or some other protective coating) covering the front cap of your coach? Does it have permanent stains that are impossible to clean? You are not alone: there are dozens of videos showing the problem and the solution is universally to remove it. Problem 2: it's SUPER difficult to remove this stuff.
Today, we'll show how Jenifer and I removed the Diamond Shield from our coach.
MAJOR TAKE AWAYS:
-Cover your headlamps before you start spraying cleaners: they will ruin the finish.
-The plastic razors were far superior to the plastic scrapers.
-Replace the blade often: a fresh blade made the work relatively easy. Sharpening the blade when it got a ding did allow me to use ...

Replacing Your AC Blower Wheel
Просмотров 46Год назад
In this video I'll walk you through replacing the blower wheel in your rooftop air conditioning units. This is a repair we've found we need to do at least once a year. We'll be sitting inside, enjoying the comfort of the air conditioner, and suddenly it sounds like the air conditioner has had a catastrophic failure. Here is a link to the replacement part we use for our Coleman heat pump: amzn.t...
Wastewater Tank Draining
Просмотров 29Год назад
If you have an RV and you go to the bathroom in the RV, you're going to have to either drain your tanks or trade your RV in for a new one after every trip; or, you're independently wealthy and hire someone else to drain your tanks every couple of days. In any event if you've asked yourself, "Am I doing this right?" and you haven't caught dysentery or been blacklisted from a park for dumping sew...

No9 Coal Mine Lansford, PA

We visited the No. 9 Mine in Lansford, PA which was operated from 1855 until June 22, 1972, making it the longest continuously operated deep Anthracite coal mine in the world. We rode by rail 1,600 feet into the mountain before embarking on a 600 foot guided walking tour. We looked down the original 700 foot deep mine shaft, walked the “mule-way” (where young men guided the mules between the di...
Natural Bridge State Park

While we were staying at an RV park near Lynchburg, VA we decided to venture out to Natural Bridge State Park. It's a short walk to see the Natural Bridge and the entire Cedar Creek trail is only .8 miles each way out to the waterfalls. I wish I'd brought a bathing suit. The park also has several other trails ranging from a short-easy trail (Skyline at .6 miles) to Blue Ridge Trails, a hard tra...
Inspect Your Anode
Просмотров 722 года назад
Have you ever checked your RV's hot water tank anode? Has it been more than 2 years since you last checked your anode? Is your water starting to smell sulfuric? These are all signs it's time to check. Do you have to check your anode? Of course not, but that does mean you'll definitely be replacing your hot water heater long before you would have otherwise. The anode helps protect the metals in ...

    Did the front of my cracked and crazed diamond shield on my 2007 Thor Mandalay. The only thing that cut through the diamond shield was Brake Cleaner. Bought a case of Brake Cleaner spray and it took two 8 hour days.

      @jjgetaway Год назад

      Did you find the brake cleaner helped get the film off? I only found the GooGone helped with removing the glue residue under the film after we already peeled. Nothing we tried really helped to remove the film.

      @Nubs314 Год назад

      @@jjgetaway yes, it removed every bit of glue but it dries quickly. Light spray then a pass with plastic razor blade, maybe two if you are quick. You must be tenacious. It is Mind numbing. You only get 1 1/2” swath each pass and multiple passes. The Brake Cleaner gels the adhesive for easy removal.

    On our Tiffin, I started getting a patch where the Diamond Shield was bulging out, from the wind (when driving) to where when it rained, the water would go behind the bulging Diamond shield, where it slowly was getting bigger. So, possibly like you, I started looking online as to what to do. In the end, I bought some 3M adhesive remover I could spray on the 'goo' where it would take it off, but it was a lot of work (and rags) but I eventually got the full piece under the windshield wipers, down to the top of the generator compartment, and I did get a little exuberant in one spot, where the paint did scratch slightly. It just so happened...up here in western Canada, where we had a day where it was like 95 degrees out, so the Diamond Shield was hot, and once I started, I just kept peeling...and it was coming off in sheets! Eventually I found getting the adhesive goo off, to be more work that peeling the Diamond Shield, but believe because it was such a hot day, it was 'very' helpful. It did take me 3 hours or so to do the portion mentioned above, from one side of the coach to the other! I do have the products to one day get it all done, but the above mentioned 'bulge' was the worst part, and the rest isn't so bad, as there isn't a lot of mould, albeit a little in some spots, as our coach is an '08 I suppose we're lucky just to have the little we do!

      Do you believe the 3M product helped loosen the film? I really only used the GooGone on the glue residue after we had peeled off the film.

    hi guys thanks for posting ,i'm thinking of getting this model and your vid has been a great help btw the mystery tool is a valve core tightening key , can you tell me what the recommended pressures are for the tues and the floor ?

    • @jjgetaway
      @jjgetaway Год назад

      Thanks for telling me what that tool was: here's hoping we never need it. The pressure gauge for the floor and sidewalls does have numbers (MPa and PSI) but I've never referenced them inasmuch as I just look to ensure we're near the top of the green zone. It looks to be ~1.5psi/.001MPa. Check out page 7 of the owner's manual here: www.intexdevelopment.com/support/downloadmnl?filename=084PO_R0_2304_EN.pdf

    It looks great, but what happened to the lettering on the front? Did it come off with the diamond shield?

    • @jjgetaway
      @jjgetaway Год назад

      Great question. I was wondering if it would get asked. When we started, I assumed the Diamond Shield was going to be around the letters, but it was actually beneath the letters. So, it was either installed at the factory before the letters or the letters were removed to install the Diamond Shield and then replaced. As we scraped it all off I noticed that I was not going to be able to salvage the old letters. You can purchase replacements from Tiffin but I didn't see it as worth the cost.
