A, heart rending and deeply important song performed with special understanding and tender, spare beauty.

Lived and breathed the strike for 12 months, we stood for what we believed in "the right to work". I worked at a pit loyal to the union so just a few scabs who soon moved on when we marched back. This song drags out the emotion of the time Britain changed for good after we went back Thatcher should rot in hell for what she did to us. This takes me back to those days when we fought so hard to save a way of life. If only !!

Do we ever learn

I did the Sheffield gig, now looking forward to taking 3 of my workmates including the MD and his wife,and an international guest from Zimbabwe to the Chesterfield gig. That will be Ivan Julia, Barbara and myself. Julia is already a fan, loving the vocals of Kathryn's songs. Barbara loves live music and the MD will be way out of his depth but will be compliant, he may even enjoy the night. I am taking my daughter to the Barnsley gig so I will see Kathryn and Sean a couple of times this year. Kathryn always responds on facebook she is brilliant. She even knew my name at the first gig I went to. Its good to talk.

This is a powerful emotion song that effects me even though I did not experience the miners strike. I hear Kathryn Roberts singing a song about those times and I know she grew up in Dodworth, Barnsley and she was just a kid at the time of the miners strike. The Ballad of Andy Jacobs is her story about that time, its message is not of a hard militant but a of a man trying to feed his family he loves in difficult times and questioning his decisions, Kathryn`s song is just so moving and brilliant
