      Read the description. You are right, stock CBF1000F will do about 265km/h. This one is not stock. The bike has been heavily modified. Suspension, frame, engine, paint job, wheels, brakes, tyres. For starters this one is 1070cc with custom, high compression forged pistons, custom cams, gas flowed head with new valves, balanced crankshaft etc. It can easily play with modern motorcycles and it is 36 years old. FZR would not stand a chance at all.

      @frankenbimmer 6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the comment. If yours is in good condition then you made the right choice. It will outlast any new 300cc easily and is much more fun and quality ride. I stripped the engine for a full rebuild and upgrade on this one at a quite high mileage and there was hardly any wear on it. Take care of it and it will easily do 100k miles without any engine work. I’ll risk sounding cliche but they don’t make them anymore as good as the CBR1000F. One of the truly great road bikes. Best of luck with it.

      @@frankenbimmer I fully intend to, just gotta order some coolant hoses and that 3 way neck since the plastic has started to wear from sedative flowing through the system for the last 20 years. Going to replace the water pump as well as regardless of a metal or plastic impeller its likely worn. Thankfully at the moment it doesn't overheat and only dribbles the smallest amount of coolant over time through some fine cracks at the end of one of the hoses. I at least flushed the system a good 30 or so times while I already had it apart to diagnose the severity of the leak and change the clutch so its in pristine clean condition. @@frankenbimmer That's awesome!! You have spent some big $$ and pursued a goal. I am very happy for you. I am old enough to remember when your bike was brand new and every young man's dream. I had a 97 750 Katana couple years ago. Last year of 100 hp engine. Gobs of power. But I just couldn't get comfortable for more than an hour or so with very forward riding position. Therefore I got my Radian on the road...finally...after 5 years and too much money. (Thanks for understanding my warped sense of humor BTW.) I have a project idea. I'd like to find another (rough) 88- 97 Katana 750 and build a touring bike using the engine, electrics and dash components. Why? Simple. My factory 750 Katana was horribly undergeared. At 63 MPH in 6th revs were already at around 5300. Yet engine pulled well from 3000. (Gixxer engine cammed/timed differently for more mid-range. ) So if that Katana engine was put into a touring chassis with, say, a 25 litre fuel tank and was geared correctly with different sprockets, one would have a touring bike with an incredible range of around 275 - 300 miles per tank AND a top speed of around 155 (estimated) mph. Just saying...

    • @frankenbimmer
      @frankenbimmer 8 месяцев назад

      @@californiadreaming9216 sounds like a nice project. Just keep in mind that if you alter the gearing significantly the bike might not pull as hard. Acceleration will suffer. I modified one of those but 1988 model and with race carbs it would easily top the speedo (160mph) and still accelerate. Those are very good engines.

    • @californiadreaming9216
      @californiadreaming9216 8 месяцев назад

      @@frankenbimmer I could not agree with you more. On both counts. I have owned a large handful of Jap 4s over the years and was very impressed with the quality and refinement evident in the 750 Katana (Gixxer) engine. One of the indicators of an engine's quality is it's operating noises. Especially at cold-start. With my 750 Kat, at cold start there was absolutely NOTHING except exhaust note. No piston slap, no valve chatter, no crank bearing noise, not even timing chain whistle. Nothing. Engine had around 18 000 miles. Re: consequences of altering a bike's gearing (sprockets). Your comment is 100 % accurate and has not fallen on blind eyes. I have been down this road before. In mid-90s I bought a CB650. Like most Jap bikes, it was horribly under-geared. 4900 RPM @ 58 MPH. Ridiculous. I value vehicles which can travel significant distance between refueling, so I hunted around and found a rear sprocket from a 1975ish CB360. 34 teeth vs the 47 teeth on the CB 650. Bolt pattern was identical but smaller holes, probably 10 mm instead of 12 mm ? And yes, spacing between teeth was identical. So I drilled the holes out and sprocket fit perfectly, obviously - drive chain had to be shortened. The effect was phenomenal. Naturally clutch had to be slipped a little more when launching, but RPM @ 58 MPH dropped from 4900 to 3900. Range improved by around 45 miles. Top end went from around 112 mph to 123-ish (might have done more, never pushed it that hard). So...yeah. It's about what your priorities are. It's something for something. A trade-off, right?
