What To Play?
Hello, I'm Aliera of Wayrest (Yes, that Queen Aliera), Akatosh's kid. 26 Years after Daggerfall I'm still Beta Testing, Reviewing, Gaming and doing Media. Oh, and I wrote the book in the corner of our banner there. :)
What to Play Next is vlogging and review (Let's Play, higher proof), but it really took off when I started Beta Testing for gaming companies and recording it. Our format is Kid Friendly, Adult Fun.
There are Let's Plays for your teen, your little guy and Crave Reviews, Indies and RPGs for you. RetroGames are for all ages and are kid friendly, so you can share what you grew up on, and play it again (or just roll in the nostalgia). Whether you're looking for what's new and what's hot, or the best of what was, we're here for your mental break or Let's Play fun.
Thanks for watching and, as always, Much Love.

Lands of Lore: Spelunking for the Draracle
Def channeling Star Fox. Great graphics, fun game play. Actually feels like a 2D arcade game come to life. Pretty much awesome. Adding to the WL now. Thanks for the look!!!
Loved this one, the aim mechanics was a little shmupy but aside from that it was a great flight sim, and honestly for someone who's not 'into' complicated game interfaces it was a really fun game to play.
@@WhattoPlayNext Yea, the whole up is down and down is up business is not fun in a controller. I have to assume inverting the axis will be an option in the final game.
@@KeithK469 I'm slowly getting used to it, I had an ex who got mad when I beat him at Halo [a lot] so when I got up to get us beers he inverted them. It's a pretty common option. I'm definitely used to a targeting computer though.
Star Fox coming in like "SUE SUE SUE" But other than that, loving it
Lol, that was my first thought too, and how many games must have been scared off by the fact that we automatically put animals in space - but it's def got it's own thing going, they did a great job :]
Too much Borderlands is, by definition, not possible. I'm quite sure of it LOL Looking forward to much, much more of this. Thank you!!!
Such a groundbreaking series, I was so glad that they did a lore piece on such an iconic looter shooter.
❤❤
Great game
Great looking game. Def on the list. Combat seems like a lot of fun. Thanks for the look!!!
This looks insane, I want to play more but I'm starting to stack games. The combat is awesome and I looked into it, there's WAY more storyline. If you havve Prime, even for the shipping - sign in to Twitch and click your rewards, it was free last week or the week before - see there was a bonus to supporting me on Twitch :]
@@WhattoPlayNext Ha! Thanks for the heads up on Twitch. Membership does, indeed, have its rewards :] I accepted a terminal backlog of games long ago, which is why I haven't gotten to this one.
@@KeithK469 It looks insanely good. My entire desktop is essentially games, I wonder when I'm going to run out of space.
@@WhattoPlayNext The answer... don't :]
PSSST a terabyte's 1024 gigs
LOL thanks, It's like tonnage, or a butt. I'm just proud I know the difference between a promonotory and a cask of wine.
Lol, the decompression scene doesn't make any sense. But overall, the game looks impressive!
Where she shoots the window, I was a little lost on how strong her mag boots would be too, but yeah, it's friggin Moving once you get into the pandemic.
I tried to get this but I can't access steam from the hotel Wi-Fi it seems lol
NO that is TRAGIC, we stuck a fanatical key link in the description if you want to pop over to check it's sale price. Right now it's 21 USD but they get some good deals.
@@WhattoPlayNextnice yeah ill have to check that out of I can get on that one to this Wi-Fi blocks the weirdest sites
@@WhattoPlayNext and I pretty much like all things related to CastleVania since it is one of my top 3 game franchises even if it isn't a CastleVania game if i get the vibes I'm in
@@UnknownXero Definitely- Did you see the remastered set? I lost my mind when I ran across it.
@@WhattoPlayNext Yeah its the last one I need to get only re release I'm missing now is the 3rd gameboy game I was hoping would be on the new set and I hope they do the N64 games again to maybe like a 3d collection
Graphics are gorgeous. Mechanics seem solid. World looks like it's huge, which really opens the grinding potential. And who doesn't like some blood sucking action... even if you die stealing bread lol Thanks for the look at this one!!!
They're heavy on the co-op angle which is interesting, its an aspect I only used a couple times for the grind. I like my dramatic exits XD
@@WhattoPlayNext Dramatic exits, like twist endings, leave the viewer/reader with a sense of excitement and a thirst for more.
@@KeithK469 "And she collapsed to the ground, bleeding out from multiple stab wounds - WHAT WOULD HAPPEN NEXT?" XD
@@WhattoPlayNext LOL Indeed. The classic cliffhanger. Fret and sweat all the long week wondering how she's going to get out of this jam. Or not!
I'm not too sold on the art direction, but the game concept is really cool!
Great concept and execution, we're a fan of 'smol' but its not for everyone. Good sim :] thanks for the feedback :]
Graphic style is appealing, and I appreciate the busy, interactive environment. Also they integrated layering of mechanics that, in theory, alter game play. I am always torn about the extent to which games should incorporate real life tasks (eating, cleaning, showering, etc.), but this works. Looks like a good find. Thanks!
Yeah, the cleaning is satisfying when it's your space, it's one of my hang ups in crafting etc, is having to hoe like fifty turnips on someone elses plot. I loved how they used relationship builds, and integrated icons instead of focusing on emoji.
Nice Game 😀
Bom Dia :] Loved the execution and the whole feeling of interaction.
From movies to cartoons to games, Disney is reliably smart and visually stunning. This looks like a great translation from screen to game. Thanks for the look!!!
They've come such a long way from their sidescrollers.
That... was greatness! Fun reactions piled on top of fun reactions. Fun for the viewers, at least LOL I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed this game. Thanks for the play!!!
We're definitely going to keep rolling with this one, as you can see I am not a good friend to have at a scary movie, but it's hilariously bad how long my recoil time is in other settings.
@@WhattoPlayNext Scary movies with jumpy friends actually crossed my brain as I watched. Funny :] Glad you're going to brave your way through the rest of the game!
@@KeithK469 I had a friend who would literally screamed, we tried it out, but going out to the movies together only made it worse.
@@WhattoPlayNext hahaha I guess it's an issue when YOU provide the biggest jump scares in the theater.
Cutthroats and cultists, oh my! Def a dif RPG from most these days. Very cool. Nailed the way old school look-and-feel. Thanks for the look!!!
Aside from the color scheme it really did remind me of an early Elder Scrolls, interesting game.
Cool. It reminds me of Commandos!
I'll have to look that up, I love suggestions :]
This is cool! I wish it was upgraded with graphics and sound but I’m down to replay a version simply off quality of life improvements!
I remember when they first brought in the point and click wheel. We all loved Maniac Mansion so much but navigating the crosshairs to a word with a gamepad was painful.
Heavy, with great atmo. Subject is intensely interesting, and I'm def interesting in trying out the game play. Thx for the heads up!!!
Yay we found another :] My faves are finding a game that really fits someone or finding something awesome and free.
@@WhattoPlayNext Never disappointed here, tho some games def grab attention more than others. Dark and dreary this one, but with solid, thoughful mechanics. And, in this case, a general subject to which I've devoted much study.
@@KeithK469 I love history, my dad was a huge war buff, I didn't do battles as much as the cultures and what it did to them, the culture of war, and the aftermath is fascinating and terrible.
@@WhattoPlayNext Very nice. I'm a mix of the two of you, studying the second world war from all angles: military, government, social, etc.
you look like a 900 year old vampire finally learning how to play video games i love this
I beta test so I literally test the controls and its a little hard to do while I'm narrating, and I'm also trying to think of what I've told people about how games recently while telling you about what's going on in the current one so its not too repetitious. Are you aware of how negative that comment was, given that you didn't know how long I've been in the industry or what I was doing?
Keep calm and carry on... as normal lol Really fun game. So atmospheric. Nineteen Eighty-Four, indeed. Thanks for keeping it up!!!
Lol, you've played this before, I forgot. Omg its scary...
I've never tried VR yet, but Project Nova seems interesting. Which Way Up would probably drive me crazy, but it looks cute!
We love love love how they used concrete puzzles, instead of quirky humor- it translates better into VR.
Good mix of games, and all look interesting. The evolution of VR gaming is interesting, and I'm curious to follow the twists and turns. Thanks for the look at these!!!
I loved that they got in on VR, a lot of American offerings are pretty blase. We need fresh blood.
@@WhattoPlayNext True overall in gaming, and one reason I appreciate the Indie coverage here on the channel.
@@KeithK469 Use of tools was prevalent, and mechanical puzzle solving has been repeatedly mentioned in anything to do with adventure gaming. Devs substituted a sense of humor for mechanical reasoning.
I described Ultima to my son as the OG GTA: Open world, main quest, side quests, and unrestricted murder, theft, and mayhem, with a high degree of interally-consistent world interactivity. Car theft? Check (stealing horses). Boat theft? Check (stealing or buying ships replete with cannons and ship-to-ship combat). Robbing houses? Check. Getting useful information from someone through civilized conversation then killing them for fun? Check. Watching the cops go crazy trying to surround you? Check (guards mobbing you after bad deeds). Ultima was/is crazy. I thought it started to suck after VII, though, and even VII started showing signs of suckage despite its generally high praise from fans and critics.
Ultima should have always said Rock Onward at the title screen. It would have been half-way anachronistic (being that you're from modern Earth visiting a medieval western European low fantasy world), but fuck it. Also the background music was too loud for your dialog, making it hard to understand you sometimes. Maybe some ambient nature effects, or just key clacks and PC speaker would be chill. In any case, dig the video. Ultima V (IBM PC / compatibles port) is one of my favorite games of all time. I still have the box, manuals, and map, and it was ahead of its time and still ahead of many modern games in many ways. Awesome shit; thanks.
It's foreground, and Ultima is SciFi.
@@WhattoPlayNext ruclips.net/video/HNy--_r5eW0/видео.html
Interesting thoughts on your blog regarding an immersive experience within a game world. TellTale def has the story angle down, but as you say, requiring cut scenes (as so many other games do). I really need to watch your full GoT playlist. Thanks!!!
They did an incredible job working with the original actors, it's worth a watch. We've got Wolf up right now we feat. Telltale a lot. Eventually I'll get Tales from the Borderlands too.
Truly, an incredible game from such a small studio. Shockingly well done, especially given the environment. Not sure I've seen underwater done this well in another game. Well done, indeed. Thanks for the heads up!!!
The controls were incredible, there was a very slight disconnect between how the left joystick should have controlled your feet, but the center of balance was right one, and they were busy designing an incredibly fun/scary game so I can't hate.
May be in the minority, but I'll forever include this game in my list of near perfect dev efforts. It has it all: cinematics, animations, driving physics, story, overall mechanics, gallus tan, you name it. Utterly brilliant piece of dev. Thanks!!!
I totally agree, I made sure to grab the Fanatical key so anyone could play. The combat is insane, the driving is extremely well done and the story is incredible - it was so much better than Furiosa that I was kind of disappointed. I wish it had a cinematics section so I could just record the cut scenes back to back and get a mini movie out of it.
@@WhattoPlayNext A movie short composed of cut scenes. Never thought of that, but I like it lol I guess not in this case, tho :( Anyway, enjoying the continued play and thx for the discount!
@@KeithK469 It's how I watched parts of the Halo series and a section of Mass Effect. It's fun :]
❤❤❤❤
Luvs it. Thanks for the read... and the play!!!
I reads good in English lol. I wish I'd had more time for gameplay so I let it run over, tbh the Ultimas are a little repetitive when it comes to video gameplay tho. Really immersive, but definite grind aspects and the story is largely text based. I was thinking of seeing if Pagan would hit bc it was so controversial.
@@WhattoPlayNext Interesting thought. Very different from the other games. Might be worth a drop or two just to see.
@@KeithK469 Yeah they had gotten bought out, and went in a different direction. They had done that with Ultima VII but then it got a really negative reception. So they went and got the old dev for IX, I think it might have just been backlash, it was the first time PC Gamers had ever heard that a company sold.
Nice! Still haven't played this one. The isometric view somewhat reminds me of the older Baldur's Gate games. Does it have any combat or RPG elements, or is it mostly focused on dialogues?
This one and Sovereign Syndicate are detective style non combat, SS is more CRPG this is more detective noir, There is No Light is a great combat crpg, little more pixel heavy Empyre Earls of the Deep is a fun one with combat elements that's pretty new and not many people have played Van Helsing its nothing bucks, it's a solo with companion crpg that's a great grinder. [This sounds like what you're looking for, it's $2 on the Fanatical Link: ruclips.net/video/9mYqHivII6k/видео.html ]
@WhattoPlayNext That seems fun. Looks similar to Diablo. Thanks for the link. I actually like story and dialogues, but I also enjoy some strategic combat and character improvement. I was just wondering if Disco Elysium has any of that, or is it another type of game. The Baldur's Gate or Fallout games generally have a good balance for me.
@@paoloquattr I'm pretty sure you do skill trees, you def do in van helsing, I think disco is a little more like The Council for skill building, maybe buffs or detractors. VH is a straight grind.
Awesome! Kinda figured this game would elicit some great commentary lol Thanks for the play!!! And luvs it that you lace gaming commentary with literary and screen references. Bradbury and PKD, at least that I caught :)
I usually stop with the 70s I think the whole movement peaked with Hunter S. Thompson, but any sort of media from that era is really interesting.
Hey Sam here, thank's for check out the game. Sorry I didn't see this earlier, I'm glad you liked aspects of it. Lots more story and a whole bunch more Yokai to fight later on!
We keep our featurettes to 10-20 minutes and yours was definitely one of the longer ones - we loved playing it - great metroidvania, love that there was more than one NPC.
A great video again! Good night!
Love this game, bom noite. :]
Looks pretty good, but I don't know if I could stand playing the whole game with Chumbucket hanging on the back of my car! 😅
ikr? That dude is something else, a couple of the NPCs really bring character to the game.
Luvs it :) All in on the burning sands of the wasteland! Thanks!!!
Brilliantly done, such a great, weird, landscape.
What an impressive game!
Really well done, the dev put their heart and soul into something similar to the Blade Runner franchise.
My favorite dungeon crawler. It's hard to top these graphics!
They took you outdoors and I think it gave them more creativity when they finally did do the dungeons for the game.
With a bit of polishing (it's clearly still in development), I think Crystal Horizons has the potential to be a really interesting game!
I thought that too - great concepts all around and a surprisingly broad spectrum of game interfaces and designs. Great combos.
Nice lineup and a broad range. I think Crystal Horizons piques my interest the most. And if the interaction is there, Dream of the Star Haven also looks pretty good. Reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy. They all look worth a play. Thanks!!!
A lot of fun and interesting devs, I did another one because they were so diverse in how they were handling gaming - which is something I look at but I don't get a chance to talk about it a lot. The next group does more VR.
@@WhattoPlayNext Excellent. I haven't delved into VR gaming, but am always curious about the current state of dev.
Yeahhh Pond Scum
Intense and engrossing when in the thick of things. A fun play, for sure. Thanks!!!
The boss quest was a downer and the boss was an idiot, I wish I had been able to kill some zombies but we ran out of time - looks interesting tho, more of a grind than f.i. Homefront.
@@WhattoPlayNext LOL Indeed. Def prefer the open world, as it is, over pseudo-open. But, I didn't get into it nearly as much as others. The zed rushes could be intense, but I just couldn't get into the overall story.
Great creepy, cyberpunk atmosphere. Glad you're playing this one. Thanks!
Getting a great response - there's a fanatical key in the description if you want to replay on PC :]
@@WhattoPlayNext Very cool. Didn't notice that, so thx!
ty iam going to deff try this one^^
Great game, love this series - great retake on the Bladerunner franchise.
At the centre of it all...
Are the advances in technology? He's a great good cop/bad cop to rotate that around. :]
cool channel
Love this game - we try to find discount games that did something in gaming - this one is listed on Fanatical.com and absolutely rocked the GUI it was using.
@@WhattoPlayNext fair enough ill check it out
@@kibbylol Total Recommend, have you played the Witcher? It's the only other one I've seen that makes use of 'other senses' to solve crime XD
@@WhattoPlayNext Yeah played the first two anyway and a decent amount of the third i really like them, odd games for sure, witcher 1 basically has you deduce things with obscure information and the 2nd game feels like an experiment... but yeah i guess the batman games you use tech in a way that feels like a different sense too
@@kibbylol There aren't a whole lot of games that do that. Mini maps felt like it back in the day, there were games like Savage Empire where you could zoom out and view the world but that was about it. So psyched I found one!
❤❤❤superb‼️👈👈💃💃💃💃
Thank you :]
❤❤❤
Thanks :]
Love it when fantasy leads to the ship. Always figure that the man in the boat stands ready for action always! Shores to explore. Dungeons to delve. Thanks for the play!!!
I should have done the silt striders, they were so right there and so iconic.
Shambled in for some old skool magic, and got it! Thanks!!!
I love the old walk cycles, they still talk about them in forums :]
never got round to this one looks good
You totally should I love this game with every fiber of my being. It was one of the best dungeon crawlers of all time, they were so creative with such a small toolest - you wound up with a real world and real NPCs.
