Old Code Haunts Me 🥲🎀 chaotic Devlog
I am on a journey to make my Dream Game reminiscent of all the fash games I played in my childhood. The 2000s Flash, games like Avata Star Sue and the Devillish games basically raised me, so I made my Own Flash-style dressup game.
I was so addicted to girlsgogames.com its insane. Thid devlog or studio vlog or whatever you'd call it, is my gamedev journey as an artist, where I struggle to code and mess up and try again. This devlog series is everything girly cutesey and kawaii!

Ah man! Some of these issues are literally 1 click away from solving in Unity. And they might be even in Godot, I just haven't used it. Wish I could help. Anyways, watching someone work on a passion project is always encouraging, keep it up!

If you wanna save money, you probably could do ai voices for the characters. You could use it as a placeholder if you want real voice actors, or if you like it enough, you could keep it. Just a thought lol :)

have to be honest I have no clue on wtf you are talking about 90% of the time in the video (from a veryy non-tech side) but its still so interesting to watch you work on something from scratch and hitting so many bumps but still moving forward. OMG First video I see and I'm in love with your ideas!! You should also look into Dream Date Dressup for inspo. It was very simple but I loved how it gave you the task to recreate a look from memory. It was a very nice change of pace for a dressup game, it stimulated your brain like "ia this curl supposed to be shorter?" "Is this the right purse?". I'm clearly very late but I just love this type of game, I'm glad people feel the same about them. Pd: You're so pretty omg!!!❤

Well, was looking another pink girly game devlog to fall asleep, mad scientist caught me off guard. 😂 Also, since you speak very fast, saying Mean Girl so many times blurred in my hearing into Mingle, which sounds as a name enough. I've checked with a vocabulary, maybe it will even work for you as an actual name. 😊

You have over complicated the project greatly. All you need is an animated sprite with all the hair animations and change the animation based on what item was selected. No classes and instancing needed. Only 1 animated sprite.
@@ddabrahim can’t do that actually 1) front and back need to be separate pieces (I explained why in the video) 2) I have to instance the items separately in the closet anyways cuz they need to be SEPARATE icons so it’s a lot easier to just re use the same code 3) If I load in all the hair images to the animated sprite at the start of the game it’s gonna be a huge load on the performance, instances are just better for optimisation I might have made it sound a bit complicated but classes and instances are very basic parts of gamedev, they’re in fact more basic than an animated sprite, idk what to tell you it’s not complicated to make classes it’s used for optimisation and any basic programming course will tell you that
@@DibyoshreeSarkar In that case you need only 2 animated sprites. The point I am trying to make is that OOP is very useful and common technique when you develop large, complex systems that you want to be scalable but it is not the only way to develop games and often OOP is just overkill for simple games like yours. Instancing is actually going to have more impact on performance, initialising properties at runtime will always have more cost to it, this is why large games often pre-initialise instances and only hide them somewhere the player can not see it and during the game they use them in a pool in rotation, so it might look like hundreds of instances to you but in reality it is just the same 10 instances used over and over again. If you load all the images in to memory at the beginning it is going to impact only the loading time and memory usage but memory should not be a problem for simple graphics like yours and a small game. Even then to reduce loading time, there is the possibility to load only what you need to start the game and load the rest during gameplay. But I can see you have already published the game, so well done anyway.
