    Thanks for the video Eric, but as someone who's struggling with a handibot that drops it connection when running on the intel edison, here's another vote to request more detail! From what I can gather, for this conversion one would need: 1x arduino uno or equivalent to run GRBL 1x raspberry pi to run CNC software (could maybe be skipped if hooking up to a computer?) 1x db37 connector board 6x limit switches (not needed but sounds like it would be better with them) Do the servo drivers stay the same? Is there any soldering or pcb cutting needed? Thanks!

    Hey, cool vid! I'd love to see more detail though. I want to do this to the school's shopbot that I work for. How is the DB 37 connected to the arduino. Are there standard DB37 breakabout boards for this? Do the pin maps work? I'd love to know more about this so I don't have to re-create your wheel. I have a different shopbot at the school, I believe it's the Desktop MAX ATC, which is a nice machine, but their software sucks, to be frank. I know this is an old thread. Would mind if I contacted you about this?

      @oldhobo5610 Год назад

      I replaced my 1013's spindle with a 1hp Bosch trim router several years ago. Made a split sleeve style clamping bracket from exhaust tubing to hold the router. Turn on and set speed manually. Must delete the 3rd or 4th line of g-code in the file or else program stalls for lack of rpm feedback. Much more power. Must replace router brushes periodically. You can view a couple router videos on my channel to see.

Thanks again

    Hey Eric, looking at doing the same to the General i-Carver I bought a few weeks ago. Will probably go with a Mach3 USB Break out Board, this way there is no need to have a 5V power supply. Did you wire it so you can use the variable spindle or just using the spindle On/Off? Thanks for the updated progress of the build.

I was looking at DMM servos, to add to a cnc kit I’m interested in, thinking the only way to get good smooth speed plus accuracy, was via servo. Can you expand on the drive/stepper/transmission you’re using? Thanks.

    this video REALLY helped me. i also did the stop block adjustment but then modified your approach by doing a few things: 1.input all the measurements into my cad program (Rhino) and determined how for out of square i am 2. unplugged one of the steppers and used the shopbot controls to move the other motor the appropriate corrected distance. 3. got a corner to corner tape measure from FastCap.. which really helps. 4. once i was square THEN i set my stop blocks to the corrected gantry. i have to say tho, without this video i would have been lost.
