The thing that astounds me is how little footage of herro there is surfing dy point I did my time there when he and a lot of incredibly good surfers were coming through and I wasn’t able to do much but make sure I didn’t get in anyone’s way as you earn your stripes over the ten years it takes if you didn’t grow up there I know Brett well and he surfs unreal but Shane was like a myth you’d see him and then you wouldn’t for a while but the most senior locals all say he was the best at the point but fuck there’s been some good surfers and still are A good family values working class crew of great blokes and tough

Haven't seen this one. The Bells Beach one is incredibly famous but these other head-to-heads with Occy and Curren are great to watch, especially from the mid-80s when they were at their competitive peaks.

Gerry took the 70s, Curren took the 80s, and Slater took the rest.
