I dedicate this piece to my mother, who is celebrating her birthday today, and by extension - to all the Mothers who will be listening to this music.
The music you hear is Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14, better known as the Moonlight Sonata. This charming title was given to the piece some time after Beethoven composed it, by Ludwig Rellstab, who thought the dominant melody was just like a "boat floating in the moonlight".
