The Robison Files

We are the Robisons. NOT the Robinsons.
Our channel began as a way for our (future) grandchildren to get to know us as our younger selves. Although it's still for that purpose, it's given us an excuse to get out and explore lots of places, especially those we might not have normally found a reason to see in the past.
We live in Georgia, so there are lots of videos of us exploring Georgia and nearby South Carolina.
Videos drop every Friday, so subscribe and join the fun, because you never know where we'll be next!

Downtown Clarksville, TN | Revealing "Grab Bag" Books

Clarksville, Tennessee was about halfway back to our home base, so we spent a couple of nights in a campground. We visited downtown and visited the Frank Sutton statue, and walked around town admiring the shops. We went into HUDUBAM book store and chose a couple of books based solely on a few clues to their identity. Information about Frank Sutton: www.imdb.com/name/nm0840308/ www.hudubam.com/

I Hid a Secret Message in my "Wreck This Journal." Could they find it?
You forgot about the obvious in the background of your pic, The Majestic Old Historical MCCANTS JUNIOR HIGH!!! Went to school there!! That place was Lit 🔥🔥🔥 back in the day in the 80s, downtime was still thriving as welll!!! Just good times!!!
It was BUSY 2 years ago at Osage. Im telling y’all, that’s I95 and it’s hard and steady traffic all the time (especially fri-sun) coming into NC . Franklin is the cog in the wheel. They have to go thru Clayton and up thru dillard and thru franklin- then go on to wherever they going from there. NC has become the new Florida. Most aren’t even half backs anymore. They just come on here and skip Florida, but we still get the half backs. We’ve had housing shortage and I’m afraid it just got worse with Helene .
Worked at Huey’s back in college, 20 years ago now! Can’t believe it’s still open!
YEES MISSOURI
I ate at the Dillard House years ago with a group of teachers. It served amazing food.
Yes! We went about twenty years ago and it was great. Then we went again a few years ago and it was so-so. I’m glad we went again because it was really good on this trip.
I live in Hohenwald (high forest mountain in German), just 5 miles from the memorial and go there often to walk the trails. The trace is a path worn by migrating animals (deer, buffalo) and Native Americans following the herds for 100s of years before Columbus. The encircled monument area is a pioneer graveyard, with stones dating back to the 1700's. The Memorial is a rest stop, picnic area and campground accessible from the Trace.
We enjoyed the natural surroundings. It was gorgeous. After the fact, we wished we had looked more closely at the pioneer cemetery. We were going to go back but we ran out of time.
It is a narrow gauge heritage Baldwin Locomotive
This KOA That we stayed at is gone. My prayers for everyone who is affected. So sad
Congrats!
Thanks! She now works with drum majors in a HS band and loves it.
WTH is this ? I am from NC and never heard of it.
It's not far from Blowing Rock. The name Broyhill is all over the place and I think the company was founded nearby.
LAST TIME I WAS THERE WAS IN THE LATE 60S AND EARLY 70S,,,, I DO HOPE TO GO BACK SOON
We went in the early 2000s and it wasn’t great, but this time was very good.
Good visit
Love seeing the nature!!!
Trip down through Dorothy ( it was Debby ) the hurricane.
Debby! 🤪
Andy's Flour Power is one of my favorites. Love to go there for breakfast.
We’re heading back that way before too long and it’s definitely on our list to go again.
Anderson Hardware was my great uncles store. Dexter Grocery was my great grandfather's. Closed in 1983. Im named after him.
I love these buildings!
Wish... I could see this heaven in real life. 😥
There’s lots nearby to do and see also, so you should try to get there someday.
@@therobisonfiles5770 But I am in India right now and America doesn't allow to come there if you are not financially strong in India. Hope! One Day in this life, Or in next maybe 😑
I used to love shopping at The Pottery.
Yes! I could spend hours in there.
I live in Florida, but every summer as a kid would go to NC to see family, and Commerce was always our half way stopping point for our trip. I was obsessed with this store as a kid, and I'm not really sure why, maybe all the Christmas decorations! Lol, but when it closed, I was so sad! I still talk about it anytime we drive, through! It was always something I looked forward to!
Things are building up all around it and it’s going to be forgotten. It makes me sad.
I wish I could move back to that town.
It’s a nice area.
Boy, y’all are brave. I’m too much of a home body. How hard was it to say bye to your home? 😢 I follow a channel of a young girl who did the same. Her and her mom, sold the family house, and bought a small RV, after her dad passed away. They’ve been traveling in it for a few years now. She’ll give reviews sometimes of RV parks. On our vacation last year, I booked an RV to stay the night in, in Mobile, Alabama. My family still brings up what a horrible nights sleep they got. The beds were a piece of foam on a board. I hope you have a real bed. 🛏️ Best of luck for your new adventure. 🌅
We have had such a case of wanderlust for the longest time and getting the house sold was not a big deal. The cost of upkeep on our house was getting to be too much, and we were only using a portion of the house anyway since it was two of us. We said we won’t own a house again, but if this doesn’t work out, we said we’ll rent somewhere. We had said our first purchase would probably be a mattress, but there’s a brand new memory foam mattress in here so we were lucky in that aspect.
I now live near the Old Sautee Store . . . but I have been coming to the Old Sautee Store since I was a child . . . except in years, when I was living outside the United States. Love the place.
It’s such a cute place.
Ate their two weeks ago it was disgusting mess up order want be back
Which place?
Had to turn this off when he started licking his fingers. No manners.🤢🤢🤮🤮
@rogerokelley Oh well! I’m glad you’re perfect.
Yes she is! She will have new scenery to enjoy as she becomes a seasoned traveler!
Living the good life
So happy for you both
Thank you!
Jacksonville was surprisingly freezing cold Christmas 2022. Like in the 30’s. I hope that’s not the case in PCB this Christmas 😩
I know! We’re thinking of heading that way this Christmas.
Need to get the hook ups on the farm but with a nice KOA a couple miles away, I hope you have a visit scheduled for Tennessee!
Oh, we will.
The service station belonged to my grandfather, Meredith "Vick" Vickery in the 1950s and early 60s
We love that building!
The service station was an Amoco. As a small boy in the early 1970s I remember it had a car wash in the far bay. The water nozzle was in the shape of a seahorse!
Love it!
Thank you so much for sharing this is Right up my alley Nice place to spend the day
We enjoyed it!
Love the songs n your voice. Sing to us Keith.
This car is got Dooky written all over it.
Nope!
Concert Josh Turner there show some of it please
Sorry, but we didn’t attend this year.
Co - la - Cheeeee .. I miss those, definitely a Texas thang
Hi baby, Keith Harkin!❤
He’s such a good performer.
Do you know where the house is that was used in the movie where she lived?
I was told several different things, but we did another video more in depth if you want to watch. Several places are gone, and I think her parents’ house was on Priester and now gone.
This is so Surreal... I just Bought an Original Screenplay from this movie "Norma Rae" .... I study screenplays because I am an Acting Director and one day want to write a screenplay. Your video here makes this screenplay come alive... It is so nice to actually SEE where this was filmed. Thank you so much for sharing this great video.
I am glad you enjoyed it. When it was filmed, Opelika was still considered a small town and something like the filming of a major motion picture was a big deal! People are still talking about it, including my family. Good luck with your screenplay.
@@therobisonfiles5770 Thank you so much... I already have the manuscript ready to be published for a "Book" first, (I was told if I sold the Screenplay, that most likely they will also BUY the book rights too, even if I have only sold 3 books... LOL I really really enjoyed your video yesterday how well you (filmed) and (edited) your video... I know exactly the small towns and big cities my film will be filmed in and I want someone like you to appreciate the small town that it was filmed in. When I was in the 6th grade... Lived in White City, New Mexico, (gateway to the Carlsbad Caverns)... they filmed a movie called "Gargoyles"... I used to sneak out of my house and walk forever in the desert to watch them film this movie!!! (I think back how dangerous that was) God takes care of Fools and Children. But... being able to WATCH that movie being made right in from of my eyes.. It changed my live forever... Then in 1992 I was working on the set of the movie made in Roswell, New Mexico called, "Silent Tongue"... Once again I was "Star-Struck"... not because there were big name Actors, like Sir Richard Harris and Sam Shepard... but the making of the movie... AMAZING. Later on I became an Actress, and was also in the movie made in Ruidoso, New Mexico called, "Billy Shakespeare" OOOpps... (You can tell I'm a writer... I'm writing too much) Where I'm going with this... is I want my film to be remembered in the small towns, and I hope it touches people like it did you and this small town. WHEN... one of these days, hopefully this year... I will let you know if I too get to film my movie... For now... I need to write the Screenplay. What I have found out through out the last 10 years... especially since COVID... People love Limited MiniSeries on TV and that is what I'm shooting for... Not just a 2 hour movie. My book/script is called: "American Dream: Age of Innocence 1959" (c) The story is about a group of (innocent kids in a small town Ruidoso, New Mexico) just after graduating from high school and stumble on a MYSTERY of a woman that had been kidnapped 4 years before, and one of the brothers of the kids, still missing too... It is really really good, not because I wrote it... because it SHOWs how each individual has the Heart to be a Hero.... a few innocent kids and a small town decided to bring their loved ones home. I still CRY at certain times when I ready certain parts of this manuscript... and VERY Patriotic in showing how Proud we are to be an Americans... Banding together... I am Proud of our Military. Okay Judi... Stop Talking (LOL) Again, Thank you for your great video. I'm so Proud of YOU.
My ancestors was enslaved in Elbert, Royston, Georgia.
Do you have any idea of where the location of the house and land was?
@@therobisonfiles5770 My father showed me and my family was his family and ancestors was enslaved and living after slavery in frankling county Royston GA. I personally vistied my great grand auntt and her children still living in that house. That house was painted as a white three story house. My father showed us that house back in the 1980s. When I show that house it was old and about to fall down. Afther I show that house I asked my father to take me back there to that house and when seen it no one else was living in that house any more. Lather as I grow up and aged. I went back to Royston. Ga and I brought my sister do she remember where that house was. She showed my the road and we droved down there and my ancestores house was turned down. The last time I visted Royston, Ga. I remember where my ancestor house was the land was cleared and weed and other natural growth trees was there. Also, the last time I was there in Royston, Ga. I was look for my ancestors graves, and me and sister stop and asked some nice people were we could find the grave yard for African slaves and our black ancestor and those nice people dirrected us to an very old black cemertry. It was located in some havey grown burses and trees. I was able to find some of my old ancestors head stones but the ones who was posssibly my ancestors who were enslaves, but they only had rocks on top of the graves. I have spent a lot of money over the last 20 years to find out the truth about my ancestors and who i'm truly am.
You can literally see Drew/Rafe at 8:00 on the top balcony so yes they were filming!
I USED TO WORK IN THE KITCHEN AT SHENANIGANS. THE FOOD COMES IN FROZEN. THE VEGETABLES COME IN PRE-CUT. THE CHICKEN COMES IN PRE-CUT AND PRE-COOKED. NOTHING THEY HAVE IS FRESH
It still tastes good!
Your video is terrific. We just contacted Dillard House today to schedule a small class reunion. Our classmates are coming from all over the U.S. Your video is giving us an amazing tour of the property, especially the Meadows building, which is one of the buildings we are booking. Loved the restaurant review, too. Thank you.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I want to go and stay sometime.
My wife and I use to shop there every year for Christmas items. Is there another place like this around that you can go And purchase Christmas dishes, ornaments, Santa Clauses, etc? If you know of a place like this that is around please mention.
You know, it's sad that places like this are not around any more. I would love to meander through and enjoy the entire building. Online shopping is unfortunately killing places like this.
Best to ever play
His story is certainly interesting.
@@therobisonfiles5770 so I don’t get a like ?
Cool!
You should go explore lake hartwell!
We actually live in Hartwell! We don’t do a lot of exploring nearby. We love to hit the road.
Thanks for this Video and y’all’s good Narration of a very Unique and beautiful place! 👏🏼😊
Glad you enjoyed it.
Las vegas southern lady is obsessed with Keith's music. Hope to see you in December 2023 at The Hotel cafe
We’re going to see him this year in Greer, SC. I can’t wait.
Madison is a beautiful old historic town. If you had walked across the railroad tracks, there is a massive part of the graveyard encompassing rolling hills, its scale is surprising, the portion you saw was a tiny piece of it. There are some truly old graves and imposing monuments on the other, larger side. I don't know if you saw them and they just didn't make the video, but there are a number of beautiful old Grand Greek Revival, Antebellum....Gone with the wind style mansions on main and the side streets off the square. A must experience if you decide to make a return trip. Ricardos beside the park and Sinclairs would be two restaurants that won't disappoint. Just a couple of ideas should you ever make a return trip. Take care
Thanks for the info. We don’t live far away, so we may head back to check out some of these places.
