Chennai International Airport is just awful and deplorable. It is not fit for purpose, especially for international passengers. The airport needs to be privatised - government officials have no idea how to operate a international airport.
The last time i went to India 9 years ago with my family n friends , Sorry to say as I'm a Malaysian Indian..Its so Filthy n Dirty ever, and smelly..I'm so sad to say,, U Guys got to improve on your Hospitality , that time I thought of Not Coming Back India again But after looking at the new developments I planed to Visit India just for This.. Hope to see some good improvements
I have been to this airport many times.. Its a real picture.. I don't why you malayalees are always jealous of Tamilians.. This is your birth character.. It cannot be changed at any cause.. I don't want to argue with you.. Its a waste of time.. Alwazz accept and truth and justice..

Is this a true representation of what they plan to do with Chennai International Airport? I hope so. That would be great! It would be nice to see the people there have nice airport such as this.
there are many young talented ,intelligent ,brilliant indians... yes they have much more to contribute for their country but they go to europe,singapore, malaysia, UAE ...... for obvious reason.....the government.....
@deivasid Once, Chennai had The Best Airport in South India, now Chennai Airport is nowhere Near InterNational Standards. Also, The Exchange Rates are Pathetically low at AIA, Chennai.

When is this projected for 2050??Union Minister of State for Urban Development Sougata Roy said 73.6% of airport modernisation work has already been completed, the remaining work will be over by end of this year 2011 and the facilities then can be declared open for public by March 31,2011. I just visited and I saw construction going on but I don't believe 70% work is done.The airport is still a mess and it nowhere looks as its shown. Want my Kolkata to look beautiful but its in such bad shape :(
Further, we in India do not give much importance to our rivers - i dont know why - when most of our cities continue to be based on riversides.....Calcutta has the infrastructure right there in place with two world-famous bridges...... Old colonial buildings in Babughat remain neglected, but they have huge tourism potential.....now riverside projects, in my opinion, should be encouraged
Going by the design of old buildings, the bridges or even the existing airport, Calcutta quite deserves the title of India's Capital for Art and Culture.....However, with the moving times, the Airport needed a makeover. Apart from this, i think that people should come up to keep the city clean.......Also, riverside projects should be given priority - that way the mighty Hooghly river will get its befitting skyline in the backdrop
@dipu94321 except for the international flights, low cost airlines will use old terminal. and this video was made by goverment of india, they will try to make their own airline more popular that is indian airlines

its awesom but Why planning to build a airport @ Sriperumbathur which is more than an hour drive from current airport or City. Which is currently have objection from INS rajali (a navy airport). If the new airport i built it will be riskier to travel by air to Chennai. As the INS base, new airport and existing Civilian airport are parallel to each other just 100 kms distance. If this is going to be the situation hy they need to renovate current airport.

More over all paddy fields going for toss in new airport construction. God saves India from the politicians.
