Attempted to summit the highest mountain in the contiguous U.S. with a new hiking partner & friend. Though we didn’t reach the summit, the journey was unforgettable. Facing the 1,200-foot snow chute was a challenge I had never tackled before, but sharing this experience made it worthwhile.
We often fixate on the end result, but this trip reminded me that the journey matters too. Despite not summiting, I felt more comfortable in the mountains than ever, guiding a new hiker on their first snowy adventure.
These moments fuel my passion for hiking. It’s not just about reaching the peak but knowing when to turn back for safety. The true summit was the growth and connection we experienced.
