I worked in the old FSH at the Geriatric Unit. The NIxon Forensic Center was named Biggs Unit at that time. Nice feeling of the FSH having brand new buildings.

FSH was a great place to work. I was there for around 7 years. I had wards 9 and 10, for the criminally insane. Most of the patients loved me. One girl in the female side told me that I was the reason she was able to get better and move to a building with lesser security. I worked evenings at Scholastic and could buy returned, unsold book for 10 cents a piece. I gave them to the Biggs Library. The patients could go to the library and get a book if they had behaved for a certain length of time. Karen told me that reading those books helped her to get better at behaving. Both as the love of reading grew and for what she learned from reading them. I was thrilled that I had helped one of my patients to get better. I hope she eventually got completely out of the hospital.
