Those markers are making them high as a kite guaranteed.
what year did this come out?
What was the date for this show? The Mike Peters Wikipedia Article says 1998 but I think that's wrong as I remember watching it as a teenager.... so maybe 1988?
Hey the interview cuts off in the middle. Is there a part 3??🙏🙏
06:20 "We used to look at Degas..." while drawing Bugs. This is what many modern cartoonists fail to grasp. Genius. This single comment is worth years in art school.
The facility with which Mr. Jones can throw down Bugs and Daffy just shows the difference between a comicbook artist and a cartoonist. They have to literally draw hundreds of cartoon drawings for every one comics drawing.
Fantastic! 21:30 "You can't very well order these characters to move around!" 🙂
I love cartoonists who wear suits!
My mother and aunt were identical, twin sisters, who worked for Chuck Jones as cartoonist
McNelly was truly one of the greats. Ne c er heard him speak before.
What a great find!
The George Clooney of cartoonists :)
3:48 lmao chuck was funny
Did you ever notice that? In lots of Looney Tunes, a character could just reach out of frame, and lean back in, holding exactly what they needed! Don’t you wish YOU could do that?
i hope you upload all of these interviews. they are smashing
I will always like his strips of sexy girls. Nothing wrong with a man liking pretty, sexy girls.
Is this guy the same guy (Mike Peters) who draws a comic strip now? ( I can't think of the strip right off. )
Hi, Mother Goose and Grimm.
The late Paul Conrad was with the LA Times for many years and won the Pulitzer Prize three times. But he made fun of Republicans and when a conservative publisher took over the LA Times he told Conrad that they just wanted to use him on a freelance basis, not on staff. After Conrad left the staff, the LA Times never printed another one of his political cartoons. When he died at 86 the LA Times ran his obituary but left out the fact that they has ostracized him years before.
He colored the toys story color omg
"Bugs" was an early 20th-century term meaning "crazy". Joseph Benson "Ben" "Bugs" Hardaway (1895-1957) was of the screwball humor variety.
There could never be enough of this. ❤️💯👏🔥⭐️🌹🎨🎥
OMG I have been trying to remember this show for years. I saw a few episodes here and there as a kid, but I couldn’t for the life of me remember the name of the show. I would describe the show to people and their eyes would glaze over and they would say “oh you mean Bob Ross”. I’m so glad to finally find this show again.
😄Bob Ross -- not quite in the same league!
What a great video. Subscribed!!
Thanks for sharing
Ty for posting
I wanted to say a big thank you Mr.Mike for being an inspiration. I used to read your comics almost every day and was attracted to Grimm's character and mischievousness. I copied and drew Grimmy all the time, even in my textbooks.
So inspiring listening to these two artistic giants just geek out over art and animation. Their passion is infectious.
Fantastic artists and teachers.
This is remarkable. Sadly, I am still unable to draw full time; I really want to be able to make a living from my own comics and picture books. Please share more of these videos, Mr. Peters.
These two are amazing; Mr. Jones moreso. The level of genius he possessed and put on the screen was remarkable. It still is!
Aw...where's the rest of the show???
Interesting so I've decided to SUBSCRIBE!!!
Omg I wish there as the rest of the interview. It was great
I believe this was produced at a PBS station in Dayton, OH, Mike was a political cartoonist for a daily paper there.
Great interview with two masters.
At the time Mike probably didn't think of himself as a master just yet, simply a student still learning the craft.
@@ChristopherSobieniak I agree. To this day, Mike Peters is always so humble and enthusiastic around other cartoonists.
@@rudyagresta I bet! Watching the Chuck Jones episode especially.
@@ChristopherSobieniak Definitely! What a privilege.
damn.. I'm sorry, but chuck deserves a much better interviewer than that guy..sooo many trivial questions..oh well it.
😂 Its Mike Peters. He draws Mother Goose and Grimm.
@@mpcolorado1421 Yeah, he's got some cred there.
It's on public television. Mike Peters did a fantastic job keeping the interview engaging and friendly. Most interviewers suck. The fact that Chuck Jones seems so comfortable here means that the interview did something right.
@@MicahBuzanANIMATIONWell put. I agree.
Draws him so effortlessly.
Chuck Jones a legend in his lifetime. Don’t forget for all the skill of the animators, it was the characterisation of Mel B an others who brought the characters to life...
it's a 50/50 thing..no matter how good mel might've been but bad coordination between the voice talents, directors and animators..nothing will work..and vice versa, in animation it's a team effort that's in perfect harmony to deliver the best performance of the "actors".. it's not just mel nor chuck but the whole creative team just in-sych with each other's vision of a specific looney tune cartoon(s)
@@LLoydL and today we have 'Family guy' --yeeach!
@@icecubescomicstrip I had the same thought about what you're thinking about animation right now, but I would say that in Family Guy or animated sitcoms for that matter animation is always second best or even third best in priority it's just being considered as a vehicle to move its story. Sometimes animation isn't a good choice for the story but probably because of budget or just plain wrong choice. Family Guy has its charms mostly in its story and only the story, yes it's animation but it'd be totally wrong to use it as an example for animation.
You are amazing people. Nice watching you, a lot of positive. Best wishes to you both.
All the best from another St Louis expat fan, who still remembers your mother's TV show, and whose neighbor & good friend was in your class at CBC. Take care and stay well.
Great interview with the legendary Chuck Jones! Thanks for sharing, Mike!
This is riveting.....wish MacNelly was still around today (Thanks Mike...glad you are still drawing to keep this profession vibrant)
