E-flite Maule M-7 1500mm "JUST MAULE STOL DEMO"
A Scale STOL Handling Demo of E-Flite's new 1500mm Maule M7, replicating the STOL performance of the Full Size MAULE Aircraft Company's current manufacture of their M series Aircraft range in the USA.
The Model is flown in the same manner as its Full Size counterpart does and also demonstrates it's slow flight and STOL capability using only Half Power settings for Scale STOL performance Take Offs and Landings.
This particular model shown has Custom added Modifications of Aerodynamic STOL Wing, Aileron and Tailplane Fences to enhance its slow flying capability on low power settings.

    Nice mod! I have this plane aswell and it has been in storage for many years. Took it out for a spin the other day and the propeller broke due to a rough landing. 😱 Looking for a spare prop in my prop stash, but they where to thick to fit properly. Do you know which propeller fits? Preferably a wooden prop. If you have a link that would be great! Thanks in advance. 🙏

    From 8+ years in the future, this is a very nice walk-through demo. While one must assume that the Freewing F-86 80mm has some differences (materials, electronics, assembly technology, etc.), I certainly hope that the scale performance is still comparable, and not a flying brick ;-) These are the jets of my generation, with the T-33 being my first training craft. "Those were the days, my friend"... so I am looking forward to adding this craft to my hangar soon. "Off we go, into the wild blue yonder..." 😎😊

    • @kjetgirl
      @kjetgirl 2 года назад

      It's definitely not a "Flying Brick" Kevin with it's scale size, wing loading and perhaps a little more camber designed into it's shape than the full size. You can take it as high up as you dare and dead cut the EDF Turbine and just glide it for a minute or so to extend your flight times too. However, it is not a model you can land without power safely without managing your approach airspeed carefully a little higher than required. So fly it on like the real thing and keep a 10 to 20 percent power on as required in landing configuration with Flaps in your flare to land and touchdown . It also handles take off and landing best on hard smooth surfaces with a relatively obstacle free take off and landing approach path. Rough grass fields will stress your U/C Retract mountings and sometimes dislodge them.

    • @kelvinnance8371
      @kelvinnance8371 2 года назад

      @@kjetgirl Excellent! Thanks for the added info. With these older warbirds, esp. the early EDFs, our current EDF tech can be overpowered (thus the "flying brick" aspect). The scale application can be a bit tricky, but I definitely get what you mean about the 10 to 20% throttle on approach in order to have a good flare. I noticed that in the video. It does look a bit too fast to try a hand catch so I'm glad we have a good paved flight line set-up. Thanks for the note about the landing gear! I did notice something just a bit unusual with the gear, but not quite sure what it is. I'll keep your words of wisdom in my field kit. 😉

    • @kjetgirl
      @kjetgirl 3 года назад

      No I did not change it. The stock ESC is fine to use for the 3B prop. Most if not all the flying and Take Off STOL performance you see in my video is at around 50-70 % Throttle power setting.....never at flat out Full Throttle anytime. The models power to weight ratio way exceeds the scale power it it needs anyway at 70% setting. I never flew it with a 2B so I cant say if it has more power with a 3B . It will definitely be smoother with a 3B with less vibration if balanced well. The 45 deg slow climb outs after a STOL take off are all around 70% power and it would probably go near vertical at WOT full throttle if I tried it with my setup.

Just have to take the 5V off any spare receiver channel you have or your bind plug port. Flashing circuits are supplied with the Light add on kits from HK. If you add your own bright white leds to the 5V for the Nosewheel landing Leds as I have done you will have to solder in some 150 to160 ohm resistors on one of the leads to the LED light in series otherwise you will fuse blow the leds with the current from the 5V receiver supply to you LED. Let me know if you want more help and I will give you my email address for more direct contact on this model and share some photos on it etc.

Usually flap and mixing is just assigned to a toggle switch and trim is done soon after takeoff but in the video the beeping is constant.

    • @kjetgirl
      @kjetgirl 4 года назад

      Thankyou for you like! ..... yes on later series Spectrum Tx you can program the beeps into your throttle stick position so you have an aural feedback of your power setting position besides the Voice alerts for that too. I have a beep passing the 10% and Half throttle positions. That is what you hear when I am flying slow as I may constantly blip the throttle to arrest the rate of sink in windy or turbulent conditions for STOL approaches etc and to help with a smooth touchdown. To use your Power lever as a 4th input in your scale control that is... besides your Aileron, Elevator and Rudder!

    Mesmerising flight! And what a fantastic place to fly from, so beautiful. Not many flying fields could boast the threat of 5 metre salties!! Thanks for the inspiration... my own Dynam Moth will be coming at Christmas (19), if I'm good.

      Hi Gina, Thank you for your comment. Yes Derby in the Kimberley region of Western Australia was a great place to fly. I grew up there in the 1960's as a 7YO boy. My father was a Commercial Pilot based there and I was often at the Airport there with him and the aircraft he flew. My TM has not flown for a while.... perhaps your interest in my video will make me fire it up again soon again from my hangar storage room. Cheers and hope you get your wish for xmas! ...... Louis

    Hi, I've just bought A Dynam Tiger moth, what paint did you use to black out the cockpit area?

    • @kjetgirl
      @kjetgirl 5 лет назад

      Just ordinary Matt Black model paint painted on with a brush. Tamiya or Testors brand ..... must be WATER based acrylic so an not to damage the foam EPO finish. That is do not use turps or thinners as in for the Enamel based paints

    What an elegant 'english' couple in the air. Both, Miss Mildred and the guided tour are enchanting. All the best from Munich, Bavaria.

    some very late info. the rules of 'edf' are simple. minimum optimal intake Area (and optimal exit Area) is the Area of the fan, Minus the Area of the cone. ( for an 80mm edf, that equals about 4,400 sq.mm.; or an exit duct having a diameter of 75 mm) MOST scale intakes do NOT have have Sufficient Area. if it did not, this model should have had a cheater. googletranslate

    I have a similar set up with the 3 blade prop. Using the stock 40A esc the motor quits after a minute or so. Are you using a larger ESC?

    Really nice detail work on the Dynam Waco. best I have seen. I have one but have not flown it yet. Waiting for some decent weather. Mine is just stock out of the box. I hope it fly's as well as yours seems to. Great video. ;-)

      Thank you for your compliment Capt. B... Yes - Have it CG Balanced level at 87mm.... back from Leading edge of TOP Wing and it should do that for you !

    • @captainbob406
      @captainbob406 5 лет назад

      Your CG comment is very interesting. Something I have been struggling with. Instructions say 70 -75mm's. Mine balances out at 90mm's with 2200mah battery all the way forward. I have read that some folks achieve great balance at as much as 100mm's. I think I will follow your lead. I really like the way your plane just floats. Again, beautiful detail work!

      ""This"" ... is what I wrote below in the RC Groups forum on this model in May 2017.... 72mm the Forward Limit of the CG on this model and 100mm is the most Rearward Limit and UNSTABLE and Twitchy side of the CG ...good for guys that Dont fly scale and just throw the model around like a 10 YO Boy. Yours should be ok at 90mm though. The more forward the CG is to the 72 limit is the scale handling stability improves. ""Just maiden flew this one a couple of days ago at 2.1kg (74oz) Flying Weight with Zippy 4S 3700mAh 25C packs. Finished weight with scale modifications and Sense ESS Air sound system is 1.76kg (62oz) Fiies "Perfectly" scale at this weight and CG at 88mm. Range of Fore and Aft movement limits I have calculated to be 72mm to 100mm at the Top wing root for the Biplane's MAC 25% - 35% CG range of travel. Gradual scale takeoffs advancing power slowly to just over half setting and leaving it there while holding on some right rudder , lumbering along with Tail wheel off and transitioning to a shallow level climb-out if you want to. Elevator controls are set at neutral for Take Off and Landing approaches are done with just 3 clicks of Up Trim with a little power left on to assist, for a smooth "roll it on" touchdown. It Feels, Looks and Flies just like the real thing ! Just Beautiful ! ""

      Excellent information. Thanks so much for sharing this with me. I will give it a go where it is currently at but will more than likely either get a bigger battery or add some weight forward. I would really like this plane to fly like yours did in the video. Thanks again!
