I think AI will have it's time and people, readers, will want to go back to author's who have their own ideas. I don't think AI is something that will do well in the art world.

The books Harper Collin’s are looking to licence to the AI company are non-fiction. It’s opt-in only, and it is for 3 years only (though I’m not sure how they will enforce that last one). I’m not a fan of AI, but I wish everyone getting up in arms about this announcement would read the full story (rather ironic when it is readers not reading the details). And given how many people use AI for so many things, I’d rather the models be trained on facts from non-fiction books than made up “facts” off the internet

I’m going to share the auction with my Stake President. He has an incredible first and signed editions collection. He’ll probably get one of these if I tell him 😂. He just recently got a first edition LotR trilogy. They had to be a pretty penny 💴 💰 💵 lol

I totally agree that HarperCollins AI stuff is scary. I do think its interesting that its only for non fiction work. Somehow for me that makes it slightly better i guess?

Fellow December baby here and I once again agree with you that the Goodreads Choice awards should not start before the end of the year! They should run it in January! I also need people to slow down with their end of the year wrap ups, I’ve seen a few already starting that, stop ignoring December people!!

Thank you, Bryce, for highlighting the news about HarperCollins wanting to share its authors' books to train AI. I hear the people who are applauding the company for the move, but I'm of the opinion that handing over creative endeavors to AI is one of the biggest mistakes humanity could make.

As a fellow December baby, I totally agree! I think the Goodreads Choice awards should take place in January of the following year so that all books from Jan - Dec of that year have a chance! I am also going to be purchasing The Broken Binding edition of Blood Over Bright Haven. Such a great book!

Loved reading The Giver and Fahrenheit 451 when I was a teenager. Need to revisit them soon. Recursion is a book near the top of my TBR along with Dark Matter. Great video. Look forward to the next installment of the sci-fi list. Cheers everyone! Happy Tuesday.

I still need to watch Mutant Mayhem. I have only heard great things about it. Last Ronin isn't a property I'm familiar with, but I know its very dark. Who was you favorite TMNT?
