Hey Mr. Flynn, this is Travis, class of ‘09. Do you have access to the 2007-2009 marching band performances we did for UIL?
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing these!! I was in the 2nd trumpet line that year! That season was so much fun! #goodoldays ❤
WIsh they still marched this way.
Best band in the land!
It looks like they spelled out "1exas 1ech."
This is back when Kliff Kingsbury was still playing
To the TU longhorn - you guys are called the Slow Band Of The Southwest for a reason - you could have never matched this show. Half of the people play on the field and for them it's all about moving 16 resting 128 and moving back 16. This was NON-STOP marching from start to end.
The music for this show was arranged by (now) director of bands Dr. Tim Rhea when he was a graduate student at Texas Tech an premiered in September 1991. We took the show on the road to Cheyenne at the University of Wyoming and the following day at the Denver Bronco halftime show. It's might have been 25 years but I swear I could still march my Foot-N-Half to this, my favorite, show.
Memories! That was a blast!
That's why they are called band geeks
There is no way to edit it (that I know of). I just stopped it before it got to the last part.
this makes me remember all my memories of middle school band (:
Great!
youd have to check your music program's policy on that. Because I was in band back in middle school, but I quit after 8th, and back then, if you dropped band that was it. Because once you left middle school band, and you get into high school they work you right off from all that you learned in middle school. But now you can just join, if you have some form of experience in instrumental music. And they help you a lot more than they used to.
<3 you make me weep tears of love <3 Thank YOU
Even as a UT grad....you made TEXAS proud with this incredible performance...good job!
I used this video last year and got my biggest beginner class ever. We'll see how it works this year.
Thank you! Thank you! I was looking for a short recruiting video to show to my band. This is perfect.
Flutes Rock
March drills like TAM but much better music
for montevideo
hey im in the 6th grade band
that's bull. i was in band for seven years and sucked at math.
Holy cow....I remember marching that show!
If i watched this i wouldnt wanna join a band. The vid is okay.... But one song in particular sucked ... PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR?? :DD??? gross.
Inspiration is the beginning. Memories, experiences, and friendships are just a few of the benefits once someone starts. Inspiring others is a great chore.. great job in getting people to think about band!
i wish my high school band had a guy like this. well to late now
Alto/Tenner sax ftw
its all about the percussion section baby. cause without the drumline the band cant do nothing
CLARINET(:
@goyankis - Whoever said TT had one of the top two bands in the nation at any point in histoy? Although admittedly good band, I've never heard their name mentioned in conversations about the top bands. They finally one the Sudler behind many other bands. They're not nearly as good as the UT Longhorn band. I doubt they blew the all-brass OSU band off the field. Being loud doesn't automatically makeyou good.
The flower drill is amazing. Wasn't this show learned in only two weeks or something too?
This is great drill. The type that all college marching bands should do.
Do you have a higher quality of this I could use for my classroom?
Dude i love this band!!!
Way to blow them away TECH band. The crowd looks stunned!
The TECH band blew them away!!!!!
All future comments from you will be deleted UNREAD
OSUs band got blown away. You even admitted you couldnt hear them from the other side. Get a life.
Dont be such a freakin homer. OSU has a great band but they arent the greatest every day, and they sure werent this day. Tech's band was phenomenal and even the OSU crowd acknowledged that. You would gain a lot more respect by being a little more fair handed.
We get about 200 out of 300 of our 4th graders in band every year. Our problem is retention. I wonder if this will work on our 7th/8th graders who have dropped band, to rejoin it again. Our main problem is our scheduling. It causes such conflicts that it's easier for students to drop than to stay.
I think that it would be great for my band director to show this to my middle school band
Middle school band is not the only band that helps in education there is High School band which I will be going into next year.
WONDERFUL VIDEO! I am a MS band director in Virginia. Thanks for putting this out for everyone's use. Not only have you inspired me to make my own recruiting video but you've reminded me what a difference music makes in a child's life. Thank you and please keep up the great work!
Wonderful. Blew Ohio State's band away!
Band is easily the most fun activity I have ever participated in.
That was awesome.
I was a member of the the Goin' Band (Band I - yeah!) the year the Western Show debuted. The show was written especially for our trip to accompany the Red Raiders to the University of Wyoming. Tim Rhea (now director of bands at TAMU) wrote the arrangements while doing his masters work at Tech. The Western Show was performed at the Jones as the infamous "Light Show" and in Denver at the Broncos halftime. The Denver Post even wrote an editorial about the show! Yeah it is my favorite show!
I remember playin' snare for them...good times...
Wow! I wish our band was this good. We're only on the high school level, though, but still, this Rocks Out Loud!
