We performed this after 3 rehearsals and not even kidding, I was ask to do this 2 days before the 1st rehearsal. Conductor is very good. So what if it's slow, it's very sweet.
what's not to like, this is wonderful. Good band, demanding piece, good interpretation. Whitacre pulls at all of our emotions with his music. This band also has a wonderful bottom end, great "throxos".............guts.
I don't like the euphonium solo in this recording, they rushed it and took huge breaths.
Love this song!!! it was made better that my band class had the opportunity to play it for competition!!!!

@Vulturer I agree! When I was younger, I heard this song and did not like it at all. Now, a few years later, "October" has become part of my life and my favorite piece.
I find that only after some musical training, one is able to appreciate music better. THIS is what I call music.
The 3rd mvt wasn't that bad lol
