On the one-year anniversary of his wife’s unsolved murder, a grieving husband (Jason Tobin, "Better Luck Tomorrow") becomes obsessed with a mysterious interloper (Byron Mann, "The Big Short," "The Man with the Iron Fists") who he believes is responsible for her death. Co-starring Eugenia Yuan ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny," "Revenge of the Green Dragons") and Sarah Lian ("A...

Last Fall, I directed a film over in China. Before I left, a few of my friends - who travel to China on a regular basis - suggested that I consider getting some shots as a precaution. Because I have trypanophobia (the extreme fear of medical procedures involving injections or hypodermic needles), this suggestion wasn't well received. However, it was explained to me that, if I didn't get the sho...

In the Summer of '08, I traveled to Europe with my friend, Charlie, in order to try to pre-sell the foreign rights to "Jasmine" at the Cannes Film Festival. It was a wonderful trip. I was fortunate enough to visit Italy, Monaco, Nice, Cannes, Paris, London, and the Wiltshire Countryside. Anyway, just for fun, I decided to use iMovie to cut together some footage I shot on my trusty Lumix. I'm ha...

I was homeless 6 months. I lost my job my girl my 1 year old son and eventually my home. I was like fuck this world. Relapsed. 6 months wasn't long, but honestly, it was pretty fuckin chill. The only thing I didn't like was having to steal. I mean I would take the honest approach and pan handle but I'm 38, standing on the block all day in the sun for $3 sucks. Id go and steal ribeye s steaks any meat you wanted. Sell it to the local taco trucks or any body who wanted it. Pretty good money. Pretty chill good hearted drifters. I would just wander. Hop the metro and stay a few days here or walk over somewhere and sleep wherever. Alot of nights under the stars. I had a spot under a bridge by myself. I wouldn't do it again by choice tho.
The cheeseburger incident is about as real as "the kid who ate too much acid and went crazy, and thought he was an orange". It's nonsense. Im from here, I've heard that made up BS since I was a kid. EVERYONE "knows" who it happened to!... Who was it then???
These are the kinda people that wind up in silicone valley, oppressing the poor.
My main takeaway is that 1997 looked like 1980
Being trapped in a dead end job during my formative years, I can almost understand the restlessness and the drifting. But what I can`t fathom is the negative connotations the clothing and looks give off. Why would you want to alienate people?!? I was just as drugged out, but I sought the cloak of invisibility. They could NOT walk into a Hyatt Regency lobby and remain at will unmolested...i could have and did.
8:54-that guy is probably on heroin. I don't buy that shit about them being poets & artists. They're drunk or on drugs. And why are they homeless? Nobody wants a heroin addict living in their house and nobody hires them, they show up late, miss work, and they steal from you.
one of these days I'm gonna get a job.nigga please
wonder where these kids are at twenty years later ? alive n happy in whatever their doing , the same as everyone else want i suppose , peace x
Good doc.
cleen
No one questions the government b/c you want to be homeless and beg for fucking change.
Anton is own class guy.
Lazy bums, they make up all these excuses about the terrible police but that's just them trying to make the police look bad. Even if they don't steal they're begging and the business people don't want them there and I don't blame them at all. And of course we have this videographer sucking up every word they say. Cops are there to solve problems and these bums are problems. Oh yeah and the cops just beat them for nothing, right, sure.
Moon is a very Handsome young man. I hope he's still alive and doing well.
Oh so because he is handsome you single him out?? Because of looks? How cheap and shallow
He was handsome. He was beaten by two guys with iron pipes... half of his face is sunk in from the blunt trauma and his eyeball is wonky.
clay carpenter you must be one of those incels
@@lordvader282 how can one verify this claim.
@@508_Phax A vision from the dark side.
moon <3
So you concentrate on looks? How shallow
Anti establishment big government socialists. Filthy entitlement culture panhandlers.
They're probably anarchists. Socialists like being in the system.
fuckin bums ruined it for us train hoppers
I like Moon :) and I hope he's fine now.
This isn't rebellious it's just sheer laziness
Your taste in music is sheer laziness.

30 years sincethe first time I heard and people are still telling the legend of arreseted for "assaulting a cheeseburger"
Seven Moon Right. And they tell it with the same conviction as the stories of cops beating them down.
We're urban campers
No you're home bums
Sorry it took me so long to reply!! I definitely remember Maus!!! And Teacher sounds familiar, but I can't place his face. But Maus, yes! Do you remember Aedh? (Sounds like Ay-da?) I was known as Molly, my real name. Mike & Molly, that was me and my bf at the time. Also knew Remy, lots of the tarot card readers. Mike and Remy were card readers. I also remember Bonnie and Pilot. Knew Rat who did hair weavings....
The New Orleans fog @ dawn, the girl in the middle walking away from me, the fog, the fog.
OPP is probably the most wicked, rotten, and corrupt police department in the country.
technically OPP is a prison. I think you mean NOPD and yes I agree with you. Been living in New Orleans my whole 33 years of existence.
excellent...ya'll should do a documentary on the street musicians in NOLA these days
@kansasoutdoorsnetwok It was filmed during the Winter of 1996 and the Spring of 1997.
i thought that dancer girl was too scared to dance since her operation?
@starrval Hi Boo, I don't recall your name, but maybe you remember Mike & Molly? I am Molly. We knew Maus and Aedh (pronounced Ay-duh), Flipper, Malachai, Remmy, gosh, I can't recall many any more. We squatted in the Blue House on Esplanade. I also remember Bonnie, Brian & Janelle and their little son, Drake and Cin, Rat..... Sandman... Any of them sound familiar?
was the blue house the old plantation looking house in two parts, across the street from the bodega? Like one block out of the french quarter? I remember the floors were half rotten. I seem to remember multiple people falling through the floor. Was out there in 1993 & 1994. Some of these names seem familiar. I was there with Chad, Robin, Stinky (Tim), Angie and Stewart. Memories.
Rage!!
if you never had to live like this you should shut the fuck up im from shreveport louisiana i been a gutter punk for 2years lucky i found a woman to put me on my feet god bless all homeless youth

Hi~I'm Korean~Nice to see you*^^*
yea well you can fuck society
michael polen i
Are you filming a movie? DOCUMENTARY >:L
Who was the guy in the leather with the deep voice? Was the "Pilot?" I'd like to see some more documentaries made about what kind of gutterpunk culture there is in NOLA now, after the social and economic changes caused from H. Katrina.
About the police: a friend of mine was arrested for leaning with the intent to fall. He was leaning against a lamp in Jackson Square. Another homeless friend was arrested for obstructing public property, because he was sitting on a park bench late one night. I remember the molesting a hamburger story-- one was thrown across the room of a local all nite eatery (forgot the name now). Damn that Napolenoic Law! Does anyone remember a cop in the F.Q. we called Little Hitler?
Ya he used to call nopd on you if you passed out in park. He wasn't that bad though, we used to do a lot of dumb shit.
I'm surprised I didn't know any of the people in your video. I was a gutterpunk in NOLA from 1993 until 97' when I dumped my boyfriend and decided to get a life. I used to live in the Blue squat on Esplanade; it has since been demolished in 97 I think. Used to eat at the Oaznum Inn a lot; I know what Spam meant when he said that you can never go to the Aquarium or museums, cause all you've got is $7. So true. I never went once. It was all about getting high and being FREE. It was hard.
Molly A. Block did u happen to know someone called silver Fox??
It was filmed during the Winter of 1996 and the Spring of 1997.
Great documentary. What year was this in?
Uhhh, I do! Those engines do sound marvelous, however.
aaaaahhhhhh sheer bliss!!!! Who needs sex when you have the sound of F1 engines
