In an ideal world if the worldcontinues as normal... it's an artisan craft / art form, people will always hold on to this. And dabbing / glass culture will only get more popular in my opinion, hopefully semi mainstream eventually. But yea, world is topsy turvy right now and it's going to have an influence. There are people out there holding on to condiment packets from the 1900s that are worth thousands 😂😂 it will never 'die', but it's commodity market and it will fluctuate a lot

I would love to hear more, actual longform content regarding this topic. There are so many facets to the conversation; what makes borosilicate unique? Which artists highlight these features the most? Which artists have a consistently recognizable, yet unique and masterfully difficult to replicate style? Even counterfeit art and the ability to verify pieces has a role in all this. Every art "genre" undergoes a pioneer phase, and after that phase is over, it becomes increasingly unlikely for new artists to "make it big." Borosilicate is exciting because it's so uniquely new to the world, but we are already in the final quarter of its pioneer phase. Which means the market is changing a little, being consolidated from an artist-heavy market to a resale-heavy market. Still though, real collectors know that certain artists will only continue to go up in value. Which means parts of the market are still going very strong. It goes without saying that the worse the overall economy is, the worse markets will be. But the less underground a scene is, the better the "market" will be. Art journalism/photography is essential for the scene to become more known, as well as for archival purposes. That will be where the boro scene becomes active again. All it takes is a famous rapper or something to wear a "designer" glass pendant in a muaic video, and for everyone to want one and lots of journalism to be done about it. Or even a big museum doing a boro exhibit. Or a famous magazine to do an article on an artist/the scene. The scene is definitely not dead

Try not to use a stainless steel brush on torches with brass or copper parts unless you don't care about minor scratches. I like to polish them like a gold miser

An awesome book to start glassblowing is an introduction to glassblowing by Homer L Hoyt. Anyone can learn to blow glass and I taught myself and don't be intimidated by people with higher levels of knowledge just ask them how to do certain things. They were beginners once too and if they aren't down to answer questions they arent worth your time

Using a technique is fine in my opinion as long as you acknowledge that it is someone else’s technique not your. I am a gem cutter. I use other peoples stone cutting patterns all the time. If someone ask what the cut is I tell the the name and who designed that cut. Never ever claim it as my own!

Cool stuff and nice to see some home glass blowing work. Definitely a good place to start with seals and general maintenance, greasing, tightening down on the more deeper components. Yes I imagine this is a nightmare with no manuals / guide!! These use some kind of catalyst to seperate the oxygen, these catalyst become depleted over time and it could just be the case that your is entirely expired and you need to replace that unit. After likely 60k hours (not 6k) roughly 6 - 7 yrs which is about their average lifetime, the catalyst inside is likely just spent and expired. It is called a PSA (pressure swing adsorption) unit if that helps point you in the right direction at all!! Best of luck bud
