Secretariat is my favorite racehorse and I know all about him.
Secretariat is my favorite racehorse
Secretariat is my favorite racehorse
Thank you Beth
Thanks for putting this educational video up. What a charming lady Beth is, with her dry humor putting smiles on the guests faces. Terrific.
Did she say 41 lengths?? She needs to be removed from her position.... everyone knows its 31 lengths...
Jackson the most Mythical General of CSA
@ 4:12 in this video, Frank O' Reilly says something very thought provoking..."since time immemorial, SOLDIERS HATE FIGHTING AT NIGHT AND IN WOODS". (And now I'm going to say / suggest something ANATHEMA to those Civil War historians who place too much romance to their hobby); The idea that MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE those very same Confederate soldiers, in the knowledge of what Jackson was gearing up for ( A NIGHT, and WOODED fight...) TOOK HIM OUT intentionally. Fratercide. Yes. I'm suggesting it, I WENT THERE. Sorry, but I choose not to be a guy who "whistles past the graveyard", so to speak. IT VERY WELL MAY HAVE HAPPENED that way. Additionally, perhaps Jacksons' Provincial convictions were being employed here--yes--but he was also PERHAPS tempting such a fate a wee bit TOO much. Just sayin'.
I have a portrait of Stonewall Jackson in my front window.I wear a grey Confederate kepi daily.🇨🇦
Good, mate! Greetings from Florida
This is also alleged to be one of the most haunted battlefields in the United States. People have reported hearing gunshots and disembodied screams of battle and voices. Numerous RUclips videos about it.
Ghosts????
In two consecutive years these two Chenery bred and trained horses won 5 out of 6 Triple Crown races. THAT is a record for the ages.
Happy Anniversary Secretariat. Love BIG RED. Condolences to his groom. Eddie Sweat. ❤❤❤❤
Jackson was never second in command of the Army of Northern Virginia. Longstreet was second in command.
Longstreet was not present at Chancellorsville. Jackson was effectively the second in command
@speglord4470 correct Longstreet was off near Suffolk somewhere collecting hawgs....
Legend says he forgave the sentry
Well.. thank the lord me & this park ranger don’t work together because I would have the biggest crush on her since we would enjoy two or three of the same interests. American wilderness, history, and civil war facts about Stonewall Jackson & the war as a whole…
I didn't realize attractive young women did this.
What the hell is this guy chewing???
Impressive, I learned more of the MAN not his reputation !
I love this guy. Wish he was my history teacher
Just like Midway, or the breakout from Stalingrad by the 6th Army... Jackson made the BEST decision with the information he had at the time from his perspective being on the field in such an exposed situation and therefore we cannot use hindsight to rehash what happened.
did he elaborate on what became of the General's wife or his daughter?
Beth is a historical hottie ! she is a hotty who likes history <3 <3 - and what's more, she lives it, what a cool job she has
I love the way that she spoke in the video her enthusiasm and her the intelligence in her of the way she spoke a very very good video I would’ve liked to have seen that go on for a lot longer than three minutes
I knew the answer to her question. It was 25 years since Citation won the Triple Crown in 1948. I knew about Riva Ridge also.
Stationed at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia in the eighties…. I was in the middle of all this history for about eight months. I ate it up.
Man the last story. So funny. My big red
any more videos of this lady explaining secretariat legacy? She's doing a lovely job
there will be a mint julep waiting on the other side sir.
I would love so much to take a tour like this one day. I wonder how different the world would look today had Stonewall not died at this point. Had he been at Gettysburg could the war have turned a different way? A different America and a different world we will never know.
1/16 of a mile is 100 meters or 110 yards.
And Sham also had a large heart.
Yep, 18 lbs. He and Red were related on dams side.
Jackson’s image is being tarnished by those who seek to destroy it without taking the time to study who this man truly was. Raised an orphan, poorly educated but persistent enough to self educate to earn a spot at West Point. When from the bottom of his class to just above the middle and breveted for bravery in the Mexican-American War. At VMI he was known as a peculiar, and often poor professor, but in Lexington he was a devout man of God. Illegally he taught slaves in a Sunday school that lasted close to fifty years after his death. He called on a national day of prayer to avoid civil war, but was reluctantly brought into the conflict with his native state. Me mesmerized the nation and the world with his feats at Manassas and in the Shenandoah Valley until becoming one of Lee’s top lieutenants. Courageous and devout to the end, Jackson, and his legend, live on to those that bother to study who he truly was and is to history.
Jackson was his own chief his greatest strength his greatest weakness
His death was the Turning Point of the war.
@@marknewton6984 Harrisburg was ready to Take ...Gettysburg was No Goal Sure Jackson would have Take Harrisburg and then Philly
@@lostpapertown More important: Stonewall would have taken Cemetery Hill on Day 1.
@@marknewton6984 thats true He would Take that Hill For Sure

Jackson was shot three times by Confederate soldiers in the 18th N. Carolina Regiment. Confederate Major John Decatur Barry gave the order to fire on Jackson and his nighttime recon mission. Thank you for your service Major Barry and the 18th N.Caroline Regiment for killing Confederate crud.
Uh, weren't Major Barry and the 18th N. Caroline Regiment also, you know, 'Confederate crud'?
Commander Beth!! : )
amazing presentation.
Me and my Dad just visited the Stonewall Jackson Death Site about two weeks ago. There we were greeted by Mr. Frank O’Reilly and he gave us a huge welcome back and A great overview and presentation of Jackson’s last days on Earth following the shooting and pneumonia sickness up until his death. We were very happy to have this experience once more with all the crazy things that has been happening as of late with statues being taken down and all the monuments being tampered with and desecrated. Thank you so much Mr. O’Reilly for your great work and time to present this to us that day. I encourage everyone who has a special interest in this to please stop by and visit. We also went into the small gift shop they have there and picked up a few souvenirs to take Home. Great Video and thank you so much for posting this it really makes me happy. This experience was Absolutely Great 👍 RIP STONEWALL JACKSON!!!!!!!
Fucking awesome. I'd pay money for a tour like this RIGJT NOW
who would ever give thumbs down to secretariat
I'd rather fight in the woods than an open field at least you have cover.
Secretariat's Momma had the PERFECT name.

Deo vindice! For my relatives in the 8 Alabama emerald guards and Washington artillery!
The gentleman descibes the scene as if he were in the room. Very moving. Thank You from UK
I had the incredible pleasure of meeting both Riva Ridge and Secretariat at Claiborne Farms
I knew Secretariat went to Claiborne (No.1 stall in stud barn same as his sire didn’t realize Riva went there as well many of the stalls have the nameplates or their former residents it’s a noted breeding establishment with excellent stallions😬
Beth, will you merry me?
She can make you "merry" but "marry" you? Well, that requires a deeper commitment.
