Great stuff! I never considered this before. Thanks for being so helpful!
Really helpful, thanks!
You're welcome!
I love your honesty, ladies. I believe that writing, Studying, and reading are the way to improve our writing. A great editor helps ❤
We're nothing if not honest!
I struggle with body language and action beats. The below the neck tip is a “Eureka!” moment for me. Thanks!
Very helpful. Thank you.
It’s so hard to navigate this topic. I’ve waffled on how to market because it seems like expectations are hard to meet in some readerships.
Curl up in a ball and cry! 🤣Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge!
Great points!
Karin Beery in the flesh! 🙌🙌 As an editor, I'm learning from you as well.
I’m grateful for you ladies sharing this channel with us.
How about picking invisible lint on their clothing? If it's invisible, how would anyone know it's lint? 😊 That one gets me the most.
Thank you!
Great episode! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you!
Great stuff!
Congratulations Karin Beery! Great stuff! Thank you!
Excellent stuff! I don't whether I want to attempt a traditional publisher or self-publish but I do want the best manuscript possible before publishing. It's only been a year of writing, and I've been through two alpha readers (beta readers?) and I'm on draft 4. I'm thinking of joining ACFW because I need critique partners like you talk about. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Ya'll are awesome! This is great information. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing so much information! Excellent episode!
This is such great information! P - Punctuation U - Usage G - Grammar S - Syntax I never heard of ^this ^ before! I imagine when doing a substantial edit it's nearly impossible to not include a line edit. And vice versa. It really is easier to miss things on computer screens! I thought it was only me! Karin's haircut was the first thing I noticed. You look great! I love what you did with it! Great episode as always!
Thanks! I figured I should address it so it wouldn't be distracting. :)
Great episode! As always!
This was very helpful, but also makes me wonder if I need to totally revamp my WIP. 😫😂 I'm writing a romance than involves 3 people, two are the main focus, both female. Ive been telling it in 1st person, switching from one to the other, but I do clear breaks with chapters and title the chapter with the name of the character. It is not every chapter it alternates, but when a part makes more sense coming from that character's perspective. I thought it was working, but maybe not...You gave me something to think about.
Great episode! I'm not a fan of dual first-person POV, especially in romance. But I won't stop reading because of it. I like deep third person for most genres and try to write this way. I read a novel in which most of it was first person but when supporting characters cut in, they were in third person. The chunks were small and I thought it worked well, but I found a lot of negative reviews because of that.
I love my office too. I’m productive in my office with my fireplace and tea pot.
I do about the same as Pegg only I start mid-morning. I can’t focus until I’ve had a morning routine including barn chores, housework, and Bible reading first.
It's usually 9:30 or so before I get in my chair, so I've been up for a couple of hours, had my morning brew, read the Bible, and maybe - maybe - cleaned something first. ;)
@@peggthomas-author you’re 30 minutes ahead of me in your day. I start at 10 🙂
Well... no more farm chores for me. @@writingromancefromtheranch
Inspirational for me today, ladies! I've got work to do and I've got to stay put until I get 'er done.
There is *nothing* wrong with deer heads on the walls. My guys are hunters, and they fill the freezer along with the walls... so it's all good!
I'd like to hear more about women's fiction and family life fiction. I just read a Christian fiction novel that I thought was women's fiction but on Amazon, it's classified under family life fiction. It was in first person present tense. The more CF I read, the more first-person or third-person present tense I notice. I'm not a fan of first person and not a fan of present tense but I do think it worked well. (She's a Christy Award winning author so that might have something to do with it working well.) So I guess I'd like to understand more about first person versus third person, present tense versus past tense, and when to use these. I thought present tense was more of a suspense situation and first person was more of an unreliable narrator situation but maybe not always.
Great question! We'll add it to our list.
You crack me up. And because MY editor decided to move, I decided to move as well so our timing will coincide for my next release which is also delayed due to the unexpected: Starting my new life as a Hoosier.
'Promosm'
So interesting to hear that first person might turn off some readers. Thanks!
According to the definitions given in this video, I have read a split timeline. It was only a few years difference in which the characters went back and forth. I've read a time slip. Time travel backward a few hundred years! I have not yet read a dual timeline. I have a couple of these on my TBR though, so this will be interesting. I would think writing a dual timeline would require a lot of planning/outlining. Great video! It helped me understand the difference, even if not all editors, publishers, and writers agree to the same definitions.
I love these videos so much!
I just added Writing Deep Viewpoint to my wishlist! Thanks! I'm not a fan of omniscient, especially in today's writing, because it takes away from the tension/conflict/drama when I know what everyone is thinking.
I'm really enjoying these videos but I feel like the volume is too low/soft.
Guilty on over-using proper names! 🤭
Is it still okay for someone else to bite the heroine's lip in a romance novel? (eyebrow wiggle)
Hahaha!
*blushing*
Great job, you guys. Always giving me food for thought...
Whew!
Pegg, don’t break my heart!
I won't. ;)
You two crack me up
