We recommend travelling early October. The weather is still nice this time of year, trees are in full colour, less highway traffic and usually a pick of accommodations. Our website contains three posts one for e...

    You might want to invest in a good pair of wool combs. They are best for getting ride of the vegetable matter. I also have a Brother drum-carder. I comb everything before I put the fibre on my carder.

      Thank you for sharing. I do have a couple pairs of wool combs but with shorter fibres my go to is the drum carder sometimes used in conjunction with a flick carder.

    Going slowly on the drone, Carter is definitely the key. I just drum carded. Wensleydale and I was able to get an extremely clean bat incredible by going really slow.

      That’s great. I’ve only combed Wensleydale, perhaps I’ll have to give it a try.

    So do the washes and rinses get rid of the vegetable matter or do you still have to go through and pick it out?

    • @MurloDiscoveryChannel
      @MurloDiscoveryChannel 3 месяца назад

      Unfortunately no. All vegetable matter is removed through picking and carding. We have a video called Picking and Carding Alpaca under the same playlist.

    Thank you for sharing this! I've never made wine before, but decided to experiment after my neighbors gave me a few hundred pounds of pears from their tree (we actually had enough rain this year so our plants and trees that survived our week long freeze in San Antonio thrived). I just strained out the pears with a regular colander before finding your video. I am now going to go back and use a fine strainer before actually sealing the lid with the airlock on the bucket. And, I've saved your video and website so I'll be ready for the next step.
