As a long time owner of an original 914-6, there are few other differences between the Originals and the Conversions. The Originals were assembled on the same line as the 911's in Stuttgart and the serial numbers started with 914. The 914-4's were assembled in Wolfberg and had VW serial Numbers. The six's also had 2 small filler doors. front fender drivers' side for fuel and rear passenger side for the Oil Filler. The 2 liter 6 was the same as 991T engine. I replaced mine at 110,000 miles with a 2.4 S engine with a considerable bump in power. Six's also had vented discs all around, Your 73 engine is probably a 2.2 T engine. ( 3 Engine levels at the Time T, E & S ( Touring, Injection, and Sport ). Most owners upgraded to 6 inch fuchs plus check for body cracks near the Rear trialing arm mounts. ..... and the correct pronunciation is Por-sha, not Porsh please.

I owned a 1972 914 2 litter & a 1973 911s 2.4 liter.The mid engine 914 was much more fun to drive=just like a go cart. The rear heavy 911 can bite you if the rear end breaks loose.

The 914 has always been on my "must own" list. I remember drooling over the old Automotion catalogs and all the parts they had for the 914-6 swaps.

Worked for a guy that had one in the 80s and use to drive it now and then. Was never impressed fit finish and quality was like a kit car. Performance was meh! my 5.0 Mustang would eat its lunch. Corvettes were much better.

Amazing Mustang build. You might want angle the rear wing down towards the front of the vehicle to avoid rear end lift at speed. Lower the front suspension about one inch or more with the Shelby drop. It will help your camber when in the curves. Once again, magnificent build.
