David Johnson, known as JAYA, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. His music blends Afrobeats, Dancehall, R&B, and Pop, giving it global appeal. Inspired by Fela Kuti, Wizkid, Drake, and Chris Brown, JAYA's style embodies Africa's essence. Starting as a church drummer, he evolved into a singer from a young age.
As a prolific songwriter, JAYA has contributed to artists like Asake, RunTown, Tiwa Savage, SkiiBii, and Spinall. Meeting music executive Rob Jua on Instagram led to his signing with Disruptive Label. JAYA has worked on Da Baby’s album “JONATHAN” and records for Oxlade, “The Lion King 2” soundtrack, and many top Nigerian acts.
