Today let's talk about that box of 80s Japanes analog goodness: the Ibanez UE-405.
This is a rackmount analog pedalboard that include a compressor / limiter (CP9), a stereo chorus (CS9), a parametric EQ (PQ9), analog delay (AD9) and a external FX loop, all of wich you can change the order in the signal chain.
It was meant for guitarist but it's an awesome tool (intrument even) to process electronic music equipment such as synthesizers and drum machines.
So this is what we are going to do!
Have fun!!!

Programmable Waveforms Diary by Julien Guillot [FULL ALBUM]

Get it on Bandcamp: bit.ly/CC45 This short album has been made during my time discovering the "Programmable Waveform Generator Model 259t " by Buchla & Tiptop Audio, a eurorack recreation of the Model 259 designed by Don Buchla in the 70s. I was lucky enough to get this module in advance and put together an unusualy big modular system around it to try it out at it's best. And suprisingly or not...

808 Day 2024 - 5 Jams with the 880
My first effects box was the UE-300 I bought at a pawn shop in the 90’s (pre-eBay days). In the early 2000’s my band would play around NYC and BK, opening up for the usual suspects (The Walkmen, Ted Leo, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and I had the Ibanez AD 202 analog delay at the heart of that set up. I’ve had the UE 405 for nearly a decade now, and our man is dead on…it is a marvel of analog joy. I have vintage 19” rack spring reverbs I like to put in the effects loop. You should check out the Furman RV-1…spring reverbs with an analog compressor before the tank and an analog parametric EQ after it. I think the AD202 and RV-1 might be big in the OG dub community. I just came across them randomly at pawn shops.
I also have the AD-202 lovely stuff
Я балдю😂
Au top mon pote !
Ho non je regarde les ue 305 depuis 1ans, maintenant il me faut un ue 405 ahaa
Faire cette vidéo m’a donné très envie de la 400 aussi histoire d’avoir le combo hahaha
Sounds bloomin' amazing. The order switching is genius too.
Yeah, some real impressive sounds, especially with the 202!
I knew you’d like it. These a very cool devices.
If you do find one without the foot pedal, it is relatively easy to put the switches in the rack. Love this machine!!
So 80s
Not the music I hope 🤞
Used to have an old analog delay from the same era. Crazy stuff 😁
Sosumi best
Mega bang for the buck for sure ;-)
🤘🏽🏴☠️🤘🏽🏴☠️🤘🏽
Oof
😳😳✊✊
Like ross from friends
Electrifying, you mean.
🧠✊🏻
What is polyend press?
It’s the pedal you see in the video, it’s a compressor pedal by a brand called Polyend ;-)
You maniac!
Man, this thing is really speaking my language. I can't imagine that there is much sonic territory you could not reach if you were using this as your vehicle.
Lovely analogy !
Very nice! How did you create the "Buchla Breakbeat massive" drums? Are they just samples, or are you fx processing them on the modular?
These are just mangled breakbeats in the Tracker, check this video I did if you’re interested in that sort of things ;-) ruclips.net/video/kyT_QG1UtBk/видео.htmlsi=W2We0GfWGhQX7pDJ
this is some next level shit!!! daaaaamn
Maths is a great swiss army knife tool, but the GTS is like a samurai sword. Serge in general with the precision & power is just on another level. I am becoming very enamored with this new generation of Serge modular! Brilliant demo
Thanks ;-)
Those drums through BTFLD are absolutely nasty in the most tasty way.
Indeed hahaha
Can the tracker sequence drum modules?
Using a midi to CV converter it can
Or if the drum module has midi in you don’t need the converter.
🧠✊🏻
very "hello everything"
fkin' hell
right
Escape from New York vibes mate
Haha thanks, I love that OST
Perhaps it's a taste thing but I find this module a bit over-hyped. West Pest lowkey sounds better than this thing. Think I prefer things I've heard from the DPO as well. Need to try one for myself I guess.
All those you mention are heavily altered version of the same idea, originated by the 4U version of this module. I find it nice to have a more « primitive » source to work with sometimes, and also the interface of this module is a joy to use, much less cramped than most eurorack version. I love the DPO tho. It has a sound of it’s own
@@Stazma Thanks for the reply! I'm aware the historical significance of the 259. The first module I ever saw in person was a full size 259 clone around 2011. They are cool for sure and I agree the knob spacing is generous (especially on the 4U version). I just think the wavefolder is not the best sounding one or at least not to my taste. I recently did a sketchy comparison of the 2 intellijel bifold wavefolders, STG wavefolder, and West Pest folder and the Buchla style one in the Bifold was my least favourite of the 4. I know this is different than the 259 but it does sound similar. Still will probably have to grab a 259 clone at some point to confirm my suspicions.
love it!
Thanks
🙌🔥
any comments on how it compares to the Verbos? seems almost identical in features
Verbos is darker and more saturated sounding. Also it has a few less features. I’ll do a video shootout between the two and more complex oscillators I have.
@@Stazma Shweet. love your stuff, keep it up!
@@Stazmahope you have the Furthrrr to compare!
@@daniel_mana Unfortunatly I don't but from the few time I played one from a friend it is very close in sound from the final output.
@@Stazma yesterday I have watched your video and I must say that they sound very similar, there are things of the Furthrrrr that I prefer, like the almost infinite turns on the frequency knobs. I still have to make up my mind! thanks for the video!
Harsh noise would be worth mixing into a track latter Stazma ❤
Oh yes
@@Stazma take it and tear it up the style of Sunday violence beat torture it would be amazing my friend.
I love the art jam
Nice tutorial, thank you. I cannot understand why your mixer (top right) does not look like the 207t I have in my setup. I see an extra row of jacks. Please help.
just found out that's not Tiptop.
At 3:54, where in the 207 do you patch the attenuator output ODD from the 296t?
Hey there! So to answer all your questions: I was using a Minimix by Toppobrillo in this video (another riff on the 207, I made a video about it here: ruclips.net/video/Z44-GudrFYs/видео.html). At 3:54 i'm pluggin into the right input of channel 2 (channel 2 & 3 have stereo inputs on this module).
vraiement formidable ma biche🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🤘🏽🏴☠️🤘🏽
Suena increíble
i like it, the graininess reminds me a little bit of some of the feedback paths in 100 Grit. i know they're totally dissimilar but they're both adding some texture
Yes indeed, very different in how they’re implemented but sometimes similar in results
Very nice jams! 🍄 Is the VC Res EQ mostly doing drum duty? I can also hear it, I think, processing the 258t??
I like to make hi hats with it but with some melodic elements of the patch also going into it.
Big boy bass sounds, me likey!
This is a fantastic walkthrough of a module that is very much on my wish list. Thanks for the great work on this.
Excellent! Do you normally work with these larger systems like this? Love the crunchy tones you get out of this system!
No it’s kind of a first time patching on such a large system at home
A more chilled jam than your jungle madness (which I love). This sounded really good. Sleek looking system.
this is awesome.. I sold my Lyra-8 and Strega a few months ago and this record reminds me of how much fun I had with them. dope!
Brain tickling... very nice
Many thanks ;-)

Building the nearest thing to a Buchla system in eurorack must have been irresistible! I like that you have kept the thing musical. I think this complex osc would be something I would buy. Ive only ever used emulators. But I love the sound you are making!
