Trading in my Onewheel GT for a GT-S - Is it Worth It?

If you are into watching long videos of an old man riding a #onewheel to bad open-licensed dubstep, you are in the right spot. Float on, my friends.
I don't understand something. How FM has patents ? or why no one is opposing his patents. Long before Kyle did these things, people had already done them and posted videos. So this was a product that existed on RUclips. He just industrialized it, that's all. But the known technique does not fall under the patent element. For example another videos in 2009. ruclips.net/video/pVQgE7mh_rc/видео.html ruclips.net/video/rhfugvQB1jY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/8RPFNUsuW78/видео.html ruclips.net/video/eN2J8m_E0go/видео.html ruclips.net/video/YHAjM-BpKJs/видео.html
Cracks me up to see the people commenting on here about how they don’t like FM and don’t understand why they are doing what the are…clearly you didnt watch the video
Not being able to curb nudge is not sad. I also can’t do it consistently and I’m ok with that.
Absolutely normal behavior from fm but competition is good for the customer so I’m happy that now we have a new player in the game this will be good for price and customer service.
1. their patent is BS because of prior art and I hope it gets invalidated in court. 2. If you’re doing dick like actions you’re a dick. 3. FM is 100% slimy. Ex. You can’t buy a pint x battery module and put it in your pint even though the module is $500+. “Anniversary sale” my ass etc etc.
0:35 "when I make those WIDE SMOOTH carves" shows scene of his legs shaking and sketched out hahaha
If future motion didn’t blow chunks maybe I’d be on there side but alas
In response to your end monologue about how the Onewheel changed your life: I am starting to be able to relate. Never participated in a board sport or even set foot on a board. I got the One Wheel because I was looking at electric scooters and going down that rabbit hole of electric modes of transportation I stumbled upon it. I wasn't too excited about the idea of an electric bike or scooter. Both felt boring to me and something I would only use to get from point A to point B. The one wheel looked like something I would have fun with and want to ride beyond my occasional need to venture further than is time efficient to walk. I have had my One Wheel for 3 weeks now and created a schedule where I go ridding at around 6 in the morning till 7 before I come home to get ready for work. The change I have noticed is my general mood is better for the day after that ride. These days it's so overused that I hate to reference it even when contextually relevant, but I deal with depression. There are reasons for it beyond the ever popular "brain chemistry imbalance". I am having a rough patch in my life at the moment and the boost to mood has definitely helped. I ride a bit and I find it hard to even think about the things I cannot control that I would normally runinate over till my depression peaks. That's the biggest and most welcomed change. Knock on wood, but it seems as if my tendency to obsessively think about what is upsetting me or gone wrong has been totally smashed by this new hobby. I can start out with my head swirling and my heart breaking, but by the time I return home an hour later it's like whatever part of my brain that causes me to hyper fixate on what is bothering me is gone. And not gone for a little while either. I find it nearly impossible to return to that rumination state throughout the day. I also realized that when I have to deal with the situation literally or emotionally there is this feeling of peaceful detachment in a "It is what it is" sort of way. Beyond that it has also caused me to be significantly more social in the past 3 weeks than I have been in years. I admit this is very good for me because I had become very socially isolated after moving 5 years ago. Honestly I am pretty taken back with how dramatically quick so much has changed for me in such a short amount of time. After ordering my one wheel I felt a little tinge of regret thinking "What did I do? This is so expensive and impractical. I need a practical mode of transportation, not a novelty. What did I do?" But within two hours of having it in my possession all that doubt and regret vanished. It took an hour for me to figure out my stance (Goofy) and stop falling off. Took another hour for me to get comfy and start to ride with some confidence. Once I realized "This feels like snowboarding looks" it was pretty easy and natual feeling to start carving around the block.
FM, the apple of the PEV world
Can i still trade in my board. Didn't know we could
No. That was only when the Gts first came out.
I traded in my xr for gts
Yes👍
FM patented someone else's design. Seems like they were the ones really being dicks.
Das me!
Good take, Harry.
My Go Pro, use to overheat and the battery would become swollen inside the camera. Insta360 ALL DAY! GREAT VID Harry
You didn't switch to Enduro battery. No swelling. (All my blues have swollen).
This is great advise, we ran into the issue on my wife's GT she only owned for a couple months.
Stopping by coming to checkout my guy!
Who the fugg is this guy who love this nonnsport sport!
Hey Harry, I just had a GT-S motor installed. I love the the power and acceleration, just wanted to keep my range on my GT! Because we might be in the same age group, I wanted to come by show my support, Sub and liked.
Thanks for the comment and sub. That GTS power is amazing isn't it?

Dude, this situation is giving me major Tesla vibes! You know, it's like when people say, "I'm not gonna buy from this company," but then they totally cave and end up getting the product anyway. And then there's the whole dilemma with Jeff Bezos-someone's like, "Nah, I don't support him," but they're ordering from Amazon like it's their personal shopping mall! In the end, everyone's got something negative to throw out there, but who cares, right? It's like, "I can't stand Kyle and Elon," but hey, guess what? I've got a freaking Onewheel and a Tesla sitting in my garage, and turns out, they're actually pretty awesome products! Who would've thought? It's all just a wild ride of contradictions and unexpected discoveries!
Ha I have a Tesla too.
@@harry_schuh what a coincidence. Anyways It's understandable to feel conflicted about certain companies and their leaders, especially when their actions don't align with our values. It can be frustrating when we see others support these companies despite their misgivings. But it's also important to recognize that it's not always easy to make a perfect ethical choice in this complex world. At the end of the day, we all have different priorities and circumstances that influence our decisions. It's okay to appreciate the positive aspects of a product or service, even if we don't necessarily agree with everything about the company behind it. Ultimately, we're all just trying to navigate this crazy world as best we can.
2:30 Does anyone else see the extreme irony and hypocrisy in FMs stance against Floatwheel as them being a "chinese knock off" and always touting how they're made in America when one of their major behind the scenes investors is a large Chinese investment firm?
I don't like Future Motion, but that doesn't matter, they invent, build and produce in the US.
@@haemse All of the parts are manufactured in China, which is the majority of the labor.
love this video
thanks.
you're insanely good for someone in their 50's!
appreciat that.

I have had a GTS for a few weeks now and I've been loving it. The range hasn't bothered me yet. I feel safer on this board than any previous version. I love the soft footpath I added. The carving is supreme. Is FM the best? I don't think so but this is their best board and I am happy to have it.
I agree, the GTS feels way safer
Been riding since 2017 (V1). I’ve had them all, and at one point had 5 boards. I traded my GT & 2 rarely ridden XR’s for the GTS a couple months ago. I LOVE IT! I ride a little trail, mostly pavement. I’m 200lbs, 53 years old. This board makes me feel the same excitement to ride that the V1 did back in 2017!
I'm pumped to get the GTS.
Cool conversational style, good microphone, short/sweet 👍🏾
apprciate it.
Probably go the gtv drop in kit to vesc my gt board
I thought about that, but not very handy with electronics. The new TFL drop kit did tempt me though.
@@harry_schuhit’s the same thing
Should try the ADV. It's a monster and the torque makes the board feel super safe. I've hit some pot holes going fast and realized "dam, if I did that on my XR I would have fallen". Also on the plus side, whatever upgrade you felt from the GTS "double it" and that's the feeling of riding the ADV. It has way more torque then the GTS does.
I just sent it to UPS, felt very naked walking back home without my XR. I feel like it’s a bigger upgrade for me
Me too. Now we wait.
Just do it.
I finally found somebody about my age that rides one wheels. I love it great job
Hey Harry, What is your Facebook or Instagram? like to invite to a livestream. very nice video, thank you

Breakdancing is not a sport, but they are in the Olympics this year. I've seen the races, one wheel is indeed a sport.

Exactly how heavily are you invested in FM to spruik such nonsense? One thing is crystal clear from history. You sit on a patent, rake in mad stacks and do nothing else, your business will die. In business, I have watched and delighted in the demise of arrogant pricks as someone smarter runs circles around their IP and they become a smoking crater. Lawyering up against the world is a typical stage. Patents expire, innovate or die. FM seems to be devoid of anything resembling innovation lately and without it they are a doomed one trick one wheeled ride that is loosing market share. Nice omission on the ONLY option for repair being to ship it ($$$) to FM with a BLANK CHECK ($$$$) for them and only them to fix? As a nuclear engineer myself, I have worked on equipment that is warrantied for 20 YEARS. I have equipment I designed, built and installed in service that is over 20 years old and still making gobs of profit. FM make their product irreparable, booby trapped and non-standard just to be money grubbing miseries and milk customers for over double what it is worth on initial purchase price! They fight to protect their perceived monopoly because competition and customer service will destroy their fiefdom. They assume this is a "young" sport with no memory, riders will age out and return customers are not a thing to be respected. When the warranty is up (like the first time it gets damp or goes up a hill) bank on a full VESC retrofit and learning curve if you want to actually enjoy the "sport" with one board, otherwise budget for two. One to ride and one always in transit to and from FM. The other option is to buy two similar or better repairable Tony boards for the price of a single FM board. One the manufacturer/designer/builder supports. You can get ALL the spare parts, YOU or anyone else can repair it and it uses STANDARDIZED parts too! FM is Betamax, but not better. I have a 1974 Bally pinball machine, it has ALL the schematics to allow repair and it still running perfectly at 50 years old. At 6 months, an FM product might just as well be disposable because the warranty is toast. FM will soak you if anything goes wrong and just wants you to drop another $4k on a new one with tax and shipping. FM stands for the state of the purchaser, F'ing Mental, F'ing Moron, F'ing Muppet, F'ing Mindless, Fluidity Missing, Foolish Mudblood. How about Farcical Marketing, Fun Missing. Pick as many as you like but there is one thing that is guaranteed, if you buy an FM product your future will not always include motion. Your motion in the future with uture Motion is F'ed because if it had an F it would be Floatwheel and you would have... motion.
nice float
Yeah. Still going every other route that FM. I understand their reasoning and I take my business elsewhere. Can not support this company and will not unless they are at a minimum of where Tony is at. I not paying an over price, for something that is super restricted for me and when something breaks have to send it from Europe to Cali. The only thing I send to them is my middle finger. Sad because they are probs pretty cool dudes.
Apple is fucked too dude android all the way lets go right to repair
Great news for EUC manufacturers as it means more people switch to riding them as there is such a huge range of models to choose from.
your opinion of what a sport is, hugely inaccurate.... it's like you just made up something that makes you comfortable. lol
this lawsuit has been thus far whats stopped me from getting a board.. im an older dude (55) that grew uo in the late 70s and a teen i nthe 80s.. we built everything.. we built our own computers.. radio shack was huge, we built anything and everything electronic, we built our own cars.. it was still possible to buy a cheap stripped down car and then go to the local performance parts store with money we saved and buy parts to fix it up and make it cool.. so naturally when looking into a one wheeled board I was immediately drawm to floatwheel.. as its truly a DIY capable board... even iof my main interest ismnt in tricks or such.. i simply want to cruise around town from coffee shop to coffee shop or take it on my many road trips where i "city hike" (im a city boy and love cities) extending my reach over just walking.. but all these lawsuits and having to buy a floatwheel with crypto and on the down-low has steered me away.. but buying a board i cant do anything with from FM has also steered me clear.. im a business owner and yep we have IP and we have patents.. luckily no VC guys.. VC guys most defimitely run the show.. but often with an idea like a onewheel that too ka significant amount of work to go from the prototype to actual production.. many startups run to VC because when FM started that $$ was easy to get and allowed the founders to pay those high california salaries.. so yeah the lawsuits will contiue until such time FM can buy all its stock back from the VC guys... convincing the VC guys that the sport will die without competition will be hard.. as would be lowering the price of the boards.. getting out of CA and into boring middle amaerica where costs could be reduced would be a start .. and then coming out with an "open standard" board might help as well.. a single model that is more user serviceable.. this is something that Linksys once did in response to the community boycotting them in the early home router days for going with a proprietary operating system.. they released a version meant for tinkering.. and sold a zillion.. Mitel did this too in the telecom industry.. they bought aastra.. a very popular SIP phone amongst SOHO and hobbyists.. they were goign to discontinue the main lines and make all proprietry.. again community outrage and they have kept the open standard models (and sell a zillion)... FM needs to see if a pathway like this can be pursued.. a more open board would sell a zillion. otherwise i think people will begin pushing for boycott of FM altogether in favor of DIY solutions that will live in the underground world..
I find it absolutely hilarious how he's all like, "Nah, this ain't a sport!" at around 50 seconds, but then suddenly at three minutes and 20 seconds, he's all like, "Man, I'm head over heels for this sport!" 😂😂😂
Haha, same. I would say it *can* be a sport, but whether it is or not doesn't even really matter.... Also him mentioning that 350,000 OneWheels out there isn't that much as if that has any bearing on whether it's a "sport" or not? The number of boards out there really doesn't matter.
Context: English is not fully literal language. The first instance is that it’s not a mainstream or recognized sport. But nonetheless he loved it as a sport
