Sweden have done this a long time. 25 years ago i did my military training for 10 months. We had 3 girls living with us. We showered in the same open hall as them. Nowdays though i think there is more shower curtains... out in the field we slept incthe same veihcle and tents. When we were sleeping outside under open sky i had one girl and one boy lying "on me" to keep the heat was close to freezing outside. The girls mixed up in the plutoons made the service more fun.

Everything is possible. After all in Germany and in Finland men and women attend saunas naked, in Finland - for centuries. But... Sure women can do everything of what men do but men cannot do what women can - give birth to the children. With Norway's birth rate below reproduction (1.4 per woman in 2022) in a few generations Norway would not have enough people to survive and would have to rely on immigrants. So instead of spending time on that equality thing government should promote family values, support families with multiple kids, etc.

Comparing US military spending with military spending in other countries' budgets is not comparing like with like. For example, health care for veterans' families would be paid for out of the US defense budget - but in Britain and France (and possibly Norway too) this would be paid for out of the civilian national health service budget. This is conveniently forgotten when the unpleasant orange guy starts mouthing off about foreign military budgets.

When I was in the USMC 73-77 that would never been allowed. I'm from the older generation its was odd to me. If it works more power to you all. I think all young people should be in the Military. It helped me through college and my career. in State service. The military is a great place to start.

Singapore has mandatory military service too, certain battalions are required to keep their weapons and military gear at home. Upon activation they have 30 minutes to report to a pick up area.
