How much suffering can one country possibly go through? A civil war that lasted about 42 years (1979-2021).

Interestingly unlike in 2021 the taliban seize of Afghanistan was a slower more gruelling process, by 1995 they had taken most of the South of the country, it took them a long siege though before they took Kabul, even then they never had 100% control of the territory unlike now.
