    I used these with the Team Catfish weight slides to make a ruclips.net/user/postUgkxdmsDj7fQXe77DC0l7P7ua8B3PiESUubM Carolina rig and they were perfect for the ponds I fish. I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.

    I'm sorry I need someone to show me visually. Not talk about it. I'm a visual person from what I see. That weight is going to slide all the way down to your spinner or whatever you're using. What keeps it one spot, and yet you can remove it off. The line easily i'm not seeing it.

    • @richardmichael9538
      @richardmichael9538 Год назад

      The line is pinched by a nub on one jaw of the clip into the recess of the other jaw. The weight stays in place where you placed it and does not slide.

    can this method apply if I want to reach 100 foot depth (for lakers), I have heard snap weights are great for relatively shallow depths

    I think rod and reel combos are much easier to keep track of when you have same line, same reel, and same rob, but I found if you calibrate your reels at 100 ft of line out and your reel reads 100 ft then it shouldn't matter the combo. I love the idea of consistancy though. Also a good thought on the barrel swivel, are you able to reel it through your rod and reel?

    I’m 13 looking to get up to 60 pounds this year at 50 right now last year I had about the same setup at 40 pounds and I one lunged a big 10 pointer at 15 yards so my confidence went way down and I seriously can’t let that happen again I didn’t sleep for nights thinking that I injured that buck.

    The 50/50 method is complete overkill. I use a keel weight with a swivel snap. I have the weight close to the rod tip, hold the rod up and have the bait (worm harness, hardbait, spinner...) touch the water. So maybe 10 feet from the weight. Last year on Erie we boated 63 walleye in 5 hours. 50 feet of excess line out is a pain, who wants to stop and remove a weight and risk losing the fish?

  • @TheEverLovingOutdoors

    Good tips! I’ve heard other pro’s say they like to run longer rods on the outside bout I’m with you on this. It’s just easier to dial in when you’re running the same rod combos.

    wrong speed is not good if your looking to get into the animal. lighter the arrow the less its going to go into a deer. totally wrong

      I use a heavy set up myself. But at 30 yards she will have no problem with that set up. My kids shoot about the same allways does the job on deer at close range.

    The Off Shore Tackle 50/50 Method chart says 1oz, 1mph, and 50 feet of line = 16-20 feet. You're claiming 25 feet. Are you using 10lb mono? You never said the line you were using. I'm trying to get more "feel" through my line any suggestions on how to use fireline with clip weights and to adjust chart depths?

    • @brandonbelanger6867
      @brandonbelanger6867 4 года назад

      Not sure the difference between 10 and 15 pound mono but I’m using 15 and have about those same numbers really depends on say a non diving lure like a spoon or spinner vs a crank and how much lure weighs none are overall consistent I have found it’s mostly trial and error for me and I have made my own chart for the lures i use I may have cheated using a go pro and down rigger to figure out how deep things where going but I only use the above when I’m in my kayak otherwise I would just use my down riggers and also nice to see the same last name

  • @mikejohnson8792
    @mikejohnson8792 5 лет назад

    When determining the line length after the clip weight, is it from rod tip, or water surface like in the illustration. If water surface, I am assuming you add roughly the amount of line that's from water surface to rod when in the holder. Right?

  • @jarretmoore3858
    @jarretmoore3858 5 лет назад

    Do you need to take into consideration How deep the Lure was designed to dive Let's say I got a flicker Shad on here that designed to go down to 15 feet will it travel an extra 15 ft lower then the snap weight

    • @TheSaltblock
      @TheSaltblock 5 лет назад

      It cerainly will dive lower much dependant on how much line between the lure and weight. Similar to normal flatline trolling if you know the depth/distance ratio.

    How fast are you shooting? Also Fred Bear killed every big game animal in North America with a 42pound recurve shooting less than 140fps. Speed isn’t the main factor in your setup. It’s overall grains per pound and the momentum you produce. You are shooting a tad over 8 grains per pound. If you are shooting anything over 200fps that will give you plenty of penetration.

  • @robertosterday5368

    • @TheSaltblock
      @TheSaltblock 5 лет назад

      Yes it does. Allow room for the bait to dive lower than the weight.

    good video I hit a buck like that once you went in a gap under the heart in ribs the fat in brisket will seal the wound shut he may live. the buck I hit like that I ended up killing the next year in his primary bed he ran too after I wounded him the year before.

      Interesting, that's exactly what I'm going to try to do. We tracked him into a bed that was clearly a primary bed. We also plan to shed hunt the whole area within the next few weeks, so who knows maybe we'll get confirmation he's still kicking.
