Love from India ❤️
Composed by Gustav Holst
The music was but not the words. Even then, for the last line on the tune, Gustav borrowed from the 2nd movement of Antonín Dvořák's 9th Symphony, "From the New World" .... "Give him my heart". Gustav was seriously influenced by Antonín's music. This was written in 1906 just two years after Antonín's death. The words were written by Christina Rossetti in 1872. Try this lovely fantasia on "In the Bleak Midwinter". Here is the fabulous Ernestina Jošt with a chamber orchestra from Slovene Philharmonics. ruclips.net/video/dyLUW6TwiIo/видео.html The director of this production is Primož Zevnik, a professor of Slovene at Gimnazija Kranj in Slovenija. He founded and then administered the finest school orchestra that I have ever heard for 17 years. For several years, I have translated for him, but this, of course, requires no translation. Ernestina is an ex-pupil of the school. Here she is at the school's Great Christmas Concert of 2016 with Croat ballad of lost love. My translation in the C C subtitles. ruclips.net/video/DV7xLFrdFSQ/видео.html
