      I have over 1000 miles on it now and just finished a three day trip. It definitely helps keep rpms down on the highway and it seems to help a bit with fuel mileage. I haven't really noticed any loss of acceleration or anything and I can still overtake people in 6th gear with little to no issues. The one downside is that it generates more noise than the OEM one, but it's not too bad. All that said, I'm not sure I would do it again if I bought another Tiger 660.

    @robshef718 9 месяцев назад

    Hi fellow Tiger rider! :) I have the 2022 660 in red, and recently bought her new [the last of the 22 year] I am still breaking her in. In your video, I don't see an "appreciable" difference in the gear to speed [rpm] range to wheel speed. I am still limited to 4th gear, [break in] but at around 3850 to 4000 rmp, in 4th, I get about 38 to 40 mph. Now, though changing the front tooth a notch may help, Im thinking that what is going to make the Rpm to gear to ground speed difference, is by dropping the back down 4 teeth. My first bike was a 1979 Kawasaki 440 LTD In red, and I was in the Navy at San Diego, So I road the freeway from Anaheim to Coronado to the Kitty hawk. the stock bike did 55 mph at around 5500 rpm. The back sprocket was a 45 toother. Great, if I lived in San Fran and was climbing alot of Hills, but on the freeway, that was too many engine revs for 55 to 60 mph. SO, I dropped the 45 down to a 41. The bike in 5th gear..[The highest it had] was now 55 mph at 4600 rpm. An appreciable drop in engine abuse and I could go just above 55 mph. Helped on the mileage too. My plan is to drop the stock rear sprocket down 4 teeth, and I see that giving the engine a drop in rpm in 6th gear freeway cruising. Cheers.

    • @donnysnonsense
      @donnysnonsense 8 месяцев назад

      It makes a huge difference and if I wring it out, I can now hit 60mph in 2nd gear (probably a bit more) before I upshift to 3rd (I do that briefly in the video). The major difference is that 1st and 2nd gears become more useable, but I can definitely feel the difference in all gears. At highway speed (80-85mph is my usual cruising speed), the revs are definitely a bit lower which helps smooth things out and I'm hoping it might help with the fuel mileage as well. I did some highway riding on Saturday and took some more video, I just haven't uploaded it yet. I do think the acceleration takes a bit of a hit in 6th gear, but I tend to just drop into 5th for overtaking anyway.

      @@donnysnonsense Ok... Though I personally don't see the need to way over tach the engine, as you have demonstrated for up shifting. Cheer... ride nice!

    I heard a lot about the stalling issues on Himalayan motorcycle before I bought my 2022 model last January. Thankfully, I have had no real stalling on start or other issues with mine. And I never have to use the idle advance level. One thing I do though is once I start it the first time on cold I will turn the throttle a bit. That is probably more superstition or habit from other machines but mine seems to idle at around 1100 RPMs. You would think the dealer networks and service technicians would have this sorted by now. But I suppose there are still issues from the initial manufacturing and setup. I also have a 2006 Vespa GTS 250 that has the dreaded front end wobble on deceleration. I posted a video on my channel about it and it seems to persist in the GTS line 16 years later. Not as bad as the early ones but still frustrating some riders who expect perfection. Thankfully, it only occurs when you take your hands off the bars while slowing down. A few guys never knew they had the problem on their brand new machines until I pointed out the problem. Or non-problem if you have your hands on the bars where they should be. Watching this video I have to say that for me, the 3-4 time start wouldn't bother me as long as it wasn't stalling on the road at stops. The engine on the Himalayan reminds me strongly of my dad's 1949 Ford Jubilee tractor engine in sound and initial stalling. People refer to the tractor-like performance. Maybe.... I hope you get it sorted. And that Royal Enfield gets it sorted out too. I'll look at more of your videos to see if you do.

    • @donnysnonsense

      Thanks for the comments and I've more or less gotten it dialed in since making those. I need to go make an updated one explaining how I resolved it and what not. After getting the TPS and idle dialed in, I now start it up and like you, I just give it some throttle for a few seconds and it will settle down. It's been getting colder, so it takes a few seconds longer.

    let the fuel x stabilise when you first switch it on ( 2 bursts of flashes). i never touch mine till its done with its boot up flashing. i only go up down maps 1 at a time. not sure how you know which map you are actually on. Mine runs perfect on all maps even from cold. So i think you have something else wrong there.

    • @donnysnonsense
      @donnysnonsense 2 года назад

      I keep track of which map it's running by counting the flashes. I have it set to 7 at the moment since that's what Fuel X seems to recommend for people running aftermarket air filters and I'm running the DNA kit. I haven't done an update yet since I've been having internet issues, but I was able to figure out what the factory idle setting was. I went back to that and tweaked it just a bit and it has been doing better. The bike will still not start and idle on the first try, so I have been doing what other people have told me and that is to apply some throttle right after starting. If I apply some throttle for a few seconds to keep the revs up, it will then idle OK. I don't think the idle is 100% where it needs to be, so the next time I need to get under the tank for something I'm going to adjust it again. All that being said, it's been running OK once I get it going. I've done a few day trips of over 100 miles with no issues (knock on wood).

All they did was run some fuel cleaner through the bike since they couldn't replicate my issues, even though the bike wouldn't start properly when I went to pick it up.
