Don't bother saving your levels to refresh shops, you don't HAVE to use camp supplies to long rest (you just won't regain health or spell slots)

Astarion make sense you are right. But for me, I got really bad luck sometime, like one time I got four 1 in a row. So I would say that for any unlucky player, best pick would be halfling. rerolling dice on 1's I can't say enough how important that is, especially on honor mode.

Worth noting: if you go with the Grymskull Helm, you can respec or otherwise choose a different favored terrain so you're not doubling up on Fire Res if you chose desert at level 1.

Do you think you would be able to put together a full evil party guide using durge tav, shadow heart, minthara and astarion? I'm getting ready to start my first durge playthru and, while I'm probably not going to go overtly evil as I want the potent robes and maybe some gear from Dammon in act 3, I will definitely treat it as a sort of lawful evil run and do whatever I want and trying to figure out a party that uses those 3 in a LE route without missing out on key gear like potent robe or overlapping too much is becoming difficult lol

I'm currently in a playthrough with my partner where I'm a Drow Assasin Rogue/Fighter using a lot of that same gear. I may have to have a rebuild to Assasin Rogue/Shadow Monk using some of your suggestions!

The flavour of starting was a fiend warlock and swapping to great old one is very funny. Like, “yea imma make a deal with the devil, the powers are cool” and then later on you just decide “yea nah, these weird mind Flayer guys and this absolute stuff is kinda cool, sorry Raphael/whatever fiend you’ve made your pact with, imma side with these guys”

im confused can somebody explain how he gets two targets with eb when hes discussing the level 5 stuff i wouldve thought he gets it from twinned spell but he doesnt even have sorcery pts yet

Is there any particular reason to go that far into wisdom? I don't see any real heavy usage of spells here. Is it for scrolls?

if you had freecast on your hotbar you would probably know that the trait is bugged and refreshes everytime you unequip and equip a piece of gear. and, that it works with the spell to convert spell slots into sorcery slots. So you can get infinite sorcery slots without spending your spell slots. plus what you said about no other uses for spell slots is not entirely true. If you got shield, you should probably be using your spell slots into it, and that uses a spell slot. other stuff like twinned haste, mirror image, misty step, are also stuff that you situationally need or want to cast either before the fight start or during it, and unless you have a infinite supply of scrolls, they will also use spell slots.

One thing you did not mentioned on the video (or i didn't saw, if that's the case, i'm sorry): Assassin's Alacrity won't give you a free shot to initiate attack, no. It will give two. If you have extra attack, by initiating combat with a regular shot (or a special arrow), you'll deal your damage, start combat and refresh your action, BUT your attack will be highlighted as a 'extra attack'. Using that second arrow will not consume any action or anything. So, at level 8, you can: go invisible. get haste from either potions or a party member. Start fight with a shot, proccing sneak attack. Cast hunter's mark (if you want to concentrate on that, that is.) use your free extra attack. Use your action to attack. Use the extra attack from the action. Use your second action. Use the possible third action from elixir of bloodlust. Use Dread ambusher. for seven~nine attacks, 6~8 that will be guaranteed criticals. If you kill anything, u'll have one extra action, and since enemies will be surprised, u'll have the next turn to again. And, if you by any means are solo, you can use either deathstalker mantle or duergar invisibility, drink a invisibility potion, hide, use gloomstalker invisibility action, or any other thing like that to 'finish' combat by making enemies look for you and fail. With that, you can repeat the cycle by starting fight again, regaining all of your buffs.

From both what I've seen and experienced I thought dual hand crossbows do more damage than normal bows with these kinds of builds, especially if you're post-ascension Astarion with a +1d10 necrotic damage to all attacks. Is titanstring better because of the +4 dmg to arrow of many targets? If so then why switch off titanstring when you can get a +8 damage with elixers of cloud giant strength? I guess celestial haste is nuts

For disadvantage, it only kicks in when ur 5ft from target while bhaalist armor effect kicks in at 7 ft so you can use with it in a bow build to full effect if you’re willing to put up with the frustration of having to constantly adjust for the range

First time watching, literally was EXACTLY what I was looking for in terms of build explanation, meta gamey stuff, and itemization. Like and follow earned just from that. (though I think it is worth considering wild magic sorc for advantage on demand since you basically NEVER cast actual leveled spells to suffer from wild magic)

How have you found the bonus attack from GWM works with war priest charges? I've read that even when GWM procs with crit/kill it will still use a war priest charge?

This is one of the most fun build's i have ever played, this build makes Honor Mode look incredible easy

This build but as a duergar

Few minor questions 1. when does the build actually come online in melee? a. in the first 3-4 levels before hand crossbows the extra attack from dual blades did fairly well, but even at level 6 the melee spike is quite weak. I'm doing far better even with 2H xbows and taking advantage of Slashing Flourish Ranged (even without sharpshooter or titanstring longbow as my astarion has those, it outperformed alot.) 2. Are there any options to address the early game until you reach moonrise. I have a few considerations that my manage it and not sure how viable they are a. 2H + GWM till 7-8?. this spikes the moment you get the feat. as you can get growling underdog very early for advantage, and swinging an everburn blade/githyanki greatsword with GWM using slashing flourish (melee) seems like a solid potential option. and opens up your bonus action to be paired with boots of speed, or enhanced leap to help close the gap. likely being able to just delete 2 people before you hit 4. as you get the +10 to each hit of that swing (and any damage riders + higher base). which is often close to dual wield at this point in the game but slashing flourish (melee) severely tilts in favor of GWM for the extra 20 damage. b. use the level 4 feat, for war caster. or respec into it at level 7 when you go to paladin. As strange conduit ring, and thorn blade both require concentration. and being in melee it's easy to drop without warcaster. c. if you have no rogue, you can stay with a titanstring longbow as you are already building with str elixers in mind. that bow + slashing flourish (ranged) will usually murder people. Until you acquire the swords and extra accessories with damage riders d. Broodmothers Revenge, an extra d6 of poison damage is tramendous. and if you have shadowheart, she can easily toss a heal on you every 3 turns to maintain it. which applies to each flourish attack, and gives your damage a 2d6+7 (1d6 base + 1d6 poison + 2 acid + 5 str). which would allow it to come closer to GWM approach due to the extra attack having enough damage riders. e. Are there any weapon poisons available early game? Wyvern toxin doesn't seem to be very available until a good bit later. but would work both with a 2H xbow + ranged flourish, or melee setup.

would this build work even as an oathbreaker?

you can trivialize str elixer purchases in a lot of ways. Just don't go south and do ethel early. 1. a level 3/4 rogue you want it to be a rogue as their slight of hand is highest at this point 2. Raise your slight of hand as much as you can. This is done through a few things a. be astarion and bite things (only if rogue, if he's a gloomstalker rn then make a duegar/halfling hireling for this task. halfling is better pre 5, duegar better post 5) b. give them an ASI at lvl 4 for 18 dex. for the extra +1 c. smugglers ring SE of waukeens rest. can get very early for a +2 d. gloves of power from the fight in front of the goblins grove (+1 slight of hand) e. Once you have a little gold (even if you gotta do stacks of like 35) purchase a +2 hide armor from underdark or goblin camp trader. gives +1 to all dex checks including slight of hand f. Have a source of guidance. 3. Have someone in camp cast improve ability - cats grace on your want to be thief. this will give them advantage on slight of hand checks. which with guidance you always have a 3 as a roll if you don't fumble. and theirs only a 1/400 chance to roll a 1 twice in a row with advantage. you get 4 of those fails per trader in the underdark (may be 3?) before they start going hostile on a failed pickpocket. 4. go into barter and change the gold to a value where your dc to steal is 3 (4 is also fine. you need to roll both a 2 AND get only a 1 on guidance to fail. so odds are very low). If you have a halfling at this point they can't roll a 1. so anything 3 or less is a 100% steal without any rng. letting you drain all of their gold. 5. use the gold to buy the high dc steal items off the trader once they calm down and stop looking for the thief. and then simply take the gold back. 6. at level 5 it becomes basically free to take whatever you want a. have a duegar hireling. 4 thief 1 bard (disguise self). - Provides invisibilty once per fight. so your invis going into pickpocket, and recast after (new fight) while they search. can also run/invis if they do catch you. - Disguise self here, so you don't mess with your party's interactions there later if caught/failed. and to activate shapeshifters ring. b. have all the above thieves gear. c. at this point you likely have the shapeshifters ring (kill the strange ox for it in camp, after the tieflings leave. and just like killing kagha for her amulet it's free now). d. at this point you likely have graceful cloth armor (don't gain any more bonus over the +2 hide armor. but gain cats grace and no longer need to pre-cast it) 7. just take whatever you want. 8. the only change from here to end game. is an astarion with this gear at lvl 11 rogue, gets a +10 minimum to all of his rolls. with +17 on slight of hand plus thieves gear alongside happy/guidance/shapeshifters ring it's 100% steal any item at dc30 or less. as even a fumble is rerolled to a 10, and those 3 buffs wont' grant less than a +3 even at minimum rolls. letting you guarantee any dc30 steal you want at that point. which is essentially everything but obscene gold sizes which can hit dc31 i think? so he has to get a 1/4 + 1/4, and naturally roll under a 10 all at once to fail even that (so 1/32 odds to fail the hardest steal possible in game. 100% for anything under).
