At last a full 80 min display by TF. Usually, once they are ahead, they take their foot of the pedal. Alternatively the boys could just have been showing the girls they too can score more than 60 points.

Tom Foley is well known for being picky about not releasing - Trailfinders gave away too many kickable penalties because of that. Someone didn't do their homework! Also I don't think I have seen a Championship match with so many kicks to goal, rather than going for the try.

It’s all big business now you are not viewed as a rugby club in a society you are a revenue stream. A revenue stream that goes to the RFU and they start paying themselves and anything left goes to the Premiership clubs.

I genuinely don’t understand what the RFU want from the championship clubs/league. I think we all want the highest class ghome nations rugby teams and that, for me, means the focus should be on the development of UK - qualified players. I understand that the odd marque player brings excitement to some but they tend to play here for 1 or 2 seasons at most and off they go. How does that help our leagues and our national sides? I applaud the strategic tie ups between premier clubs and lower clubs in that it gives many players more opportunity to play at decent levels week in and week out. From then on in, it seems to me to be chaos. The RFU is the big donor for cash in the game but it doesn’t make the profit from thin air, it makes it from the rest of us going to see England play. If England don’t do so well, then there is long term effect - except that the RFU seem to regard the current income as everlasting. As with so many bureaucracies, the RFU goes through expansion and contraction. However, how does contraction affect the people at the top who have made mistakes? It’s the old civil service adage of assistant heads will roll. I was MD of a large business (c3500 employees) for many years and I grimace at how the RFU is run. What do we want from Championship clubs? I think we want a financially healthy leagues with clubs developing players through the pyramid. I don’t think overseas players can be justified (I’ve seen paid overseas players as down as Level 8). I would adequately finance the championship clubs so that the development of UK players is rewarded. If you want to pay an overseas player, then fine but that player is deducted from the financing. I read about grounds not being fit for the premiership. What is that all about? I can see that, if a ground has no toilets; no accessibility for disabled, no parking, it shouldn’t be allowed but are spectators really worried about how many eateries there are? How many seats in the stands? I know that I’m not. As an example, Sale have a huge ground with all the facilities but the ground seems 75% empty when I see it. So what is the relevance of having all these (expensive) facilities if they are underused? If there is some reason that has not been explained that, for instance, the Ealing home ground isn’t upto reasonable expectations, then allow Ealing to ground share for a season or 2 whilst they invest in their ground. Don’t expect these clubs to invest without the income first! Of course, this leaves clubs like the Pirates out on a limb in the sense that they may be no other grounds in the locale. So what? We want rugby to be everywhere and, if that means that the odd club has lesser faculties to begin with, so be it. The RFU wants to talk about rugby being inclusive - and yet it puts unreasonable barriers into the way of inclusion in the Premiership. I hate to pick upon Newcastle but it seems that, just because they have a perceived better ground, then they should not be relegated. What makes the Newcastle quality of rugby any better than Ealing or the Pirates? Just to prevent any thoughts of bias, I don’t support any particularly club. I go to rugby at several London- based grounds and the choice is really based upon what time I have free and (as I am partially disabled) what facilities they might have.
