I actually have the new KDrill and the pistol . I use the kdrill on ice that gets dirty like Lake Superior and out west in the reservoirs. I was surprise how well the new kdrill performed for me . I would still lean to the pistol bit if there was no chance of sand in the ice tho

I love my rottne machines . I have had so little trouble with the carrier as well as the head . The only issue I had with the carrier was the underside bolts on the boom swing bearing . But once I realized that was an issue I chance the back back bolts every oil change and no issues after that. But I also cut large hardwood all the time. The newer ones have bigger bots and I believe remedied the issue

Hmm I think maybe the reel you are using is not the correct option . I am assuming you are using an open faced reel which you have flipped the lever to give a reverse action with out the bail being opened but your handle in turn rotates hitting the predator base . Maybe I am ignorant but I don’t believe that is a bait feeder . The bait feeder reels I have used have been inline reels or bait casting reels which you set the bail to release but there’s a small button you slide which creates just enough tension on the line that it doesn’t free spool but the fish can easily take line out

What is the floors material? Assuming you are concerned with it staying in place if a big fish hooks up? I don’t think you will have an issue at all but if it’s a concern then you could go to Walmart and get those little sticky tabs and put under each spike

@@Thathersheyguy it would be rubber floors. I’m sure the spikes will do fine but in case, I will keep the Walmart option in mind. Thanks.

It’s about how not to set the predator this coming winter . I just started the RUclips not too long ago so I don’t have a ton with catching fish when doing the testing for this as I was more concerned with making sure it works how it’s supposed to . @hookedupwi has more as he was doing more the digital side . There will lots of video coming this winter

8 years straight of large hardwood and a lot over 22” . I’ve had very very little trouble and no structural issues at all

Good question and an easy one to answer. My personal preference is rottne hands down mostly due to the head . There is no comparison as to which head is better esp in hardwood and any type of difficult timber . The ponsse has some advantages , one being the ability to get more compact for transport and it’s a little smoother in the cab however the h21 and newer is very very smooth and quiet . Both have their place but if I’m in heavy timber and no overhead power lines I’ll take rottne all day

@@Thathersheyguy Thanks for reply My customers mostly run excavator conversions and waratah heads One runs logmax but he never breaks down so I don’t get to work on his head How are the sp heads set up to work on maintenance as well as measuring system

I had logmax before SP and while the logmax are good heads I’ll take the SP. I found the sp to be more accurate and smoother operating . I had I think around 11k hours or so and replaced very few parts or issues with it . I know if a good one year old rottne h21d with SP that a guy is wanting to sell pretty bad . If I could afford to log again in Wisconsin I’d go right back to rottne
