The Green Room Nothin' Can Stop My Boys
I was in a college choir class a few years ago, and our last song, from our last concert was this. Before the show, and even outside of class, I would sing this almost religiously, and the show itself, of course, was so much fun. But that last song was so incredible, even to the point of singing the final verse again for the encore, and everyone in the audience was singing along, just having a great time. Anyway, long story short, that concert has got to be my favorite college memory by a mile.
Love her version of this song

Edward's first song he performed to at The OAK LAWN ICE ARENA.
Not Broadway!! It's British through and through!!
Play video HUEY: I listened to advice from folks smarter than me, And I ignored it. I listened to hatred from folks richer than me, And I deplored it. I listened to music from folks darker than me, And you know I adored it! FELICIA/COMPANY: First come's a point in everybody's life When they gotta stand up and face a fight. There comes a point in everybody's life, When they gotta wonder if they done right. I swallowed my fear, followed my heart right here, And through it all one almighty thought stood clear- Listen to the beat, listen to the beat Play it, obey it, love it with, love it with your feet. HUEY: Oooh oh oh Listen to your soul, listen to your soul, Heed it, FELICIA: Heed it HUEY: Ya need it FELICIA: Ya need it, HUEY: Let it make/ let it make you whole. And if ya listen to the beat And hear what's in your soul- You'll never let anyone steal your rock 'n roll! HUEY/FELICIA/COMPANY: Listen to the beat, listen to beat Play it, play it Obey it, obey it Love it with/love it with your feet! Back in 2015 I was in a production of Hair as Woof. I used to play this before almost every rehearsal for the girl who was going to play Sheila in our production. We don't talk anymore, but man we had some fun times. Also, I am only now realizing that I was playing it much too fast. I had never heard the original recording before today.
0:20 On the day I was born, Said my father, said he. I've an elegant legacy Waitin' for ye, 'Tis a rhyme for your lips And a song for your heart, To sing it whenever The world falls apart. Look, look Look to the rainbow. Follow it over the hill And the stream. Look, look Look to the rainbow. Follow the fellow Who follows a dream. So I bundled my heart And I roamed the world free; To the East with the lark To the West with the sea. And I searched all the earth And I scanned all the skies, And I found it at last, In my own true love’s eyes. Look, look Look to the rainbow. Follow it over the hill And the stream. Look, look Look to the rainbow. Follow the fellow Who follows a dream. 'Twas a sumptuous gift To bequeath to a child. Oh the lure of that song Kept her feet funnin' wild. For you never grow old And you never stand still, With whippoorwills singin' Beyond the next hill. Look, look Look to the rainbow. Follow it over the hill And the stream. Look, look Look to the rainbow. Follow the fellow Who follows a dream. Follow the fellow, Follow the fellow, Follow the fellow Who follows a dream.
What a wonderful song!

Seventeen and never done it Oh what a waste Oh what a crime Seventeen and never done it And I'll soon be past me prime Every Saturday night I pray to God Tonight's the night That I lose my virginity But every Saturday night It's always the same I'm so ashamed The old shebang have a bang But never me If me mates learned of my disgrace I'd never be able to show my face (Sharon) How I wish I'd never done it Oh what a reckless fool I've been Here I am a fallen woman And I'm only seventeen Every Saturday night I said to myself No, not tonight No way, no how, no siree Then came that fateful night My iron resolve simply dissolved When some bloke spiked me coke with a bottle of Bacardi If the girls learned of my disgrace I'd never be able to show my face (Eric) Don't you find it quite ironic? Not to say, a little mad How the boys boast they have when they haven't And the girls swear they haven't when they have (Sharon) How I wish I'd never done it (Rick) I think about it such a lot (Sharon) What will I say to Mr. Right? (Rick) It's no wonder I've got spots (Sharon) How can I with irkly conscience walk down the isle dressed in white? (Rick) I'm prepared like all the fellas (Sharon) Oh, what a fool I've been (Rick) I bought me rubber like the rest (Sharon) And I'm only seventeen (Rick) And to prevent last minute fumbles I put it on before I left (Both) Seventeen Seventeen Seventeen
Dinah Washington does this beautifully.
And it was the best song

Why are those things you admire most in others the hardest to find in yourself? What is it about me that seems to determine I'm destined to life on the shelf? This 'wait-a-bit' character waiting to find whatever it is that I lack. Whenever they ask the real me to step forward, the real me takes a step back. 'Wait a bit, ' she says. 'Can't do it, ' she says. 'Wait a bit, ' she says, not really knowing what she's waiting for. While he's outgoing, why do I withdraw? Without conviction and yet somehow sure, A contradiction that will stay in my mind 'til the day that I find something more. I'm searching for something they say is within me yet seems to be hidden from sight. But why should I search when it's not in my nature to come out and stand in the light? For my expectations are not all that great - just one dream I had hoped to fulfil And yet when it came to the moment of truth, I proved to myself I'm a still Wait-a-bit. Am I Just not fit to fly? When I came to try I watched the others as they soared and rose. It seemed so effortless but then, who knows? Beneath the surface sometimes torment grows. I plucked up courage for I knew I should fledge. So I stood on the edge and I froze... The flightless bird gets by without the flight. But still I'm still hoping that someday I might. He made me feel I could soar. Now only one thing seems sure, I'll have to wait a bit more...

Reminds me of Beren and Luthien
JAPETH I don't give a damn for the thunders of fathers Come hell or high water whatever they do I could not live in a world without you In whatever time we have For as long as we are living We can face whatever comes If we face it now as one I could make on my own Let me know that I don't have to No one really wants to be alone In whatever we time have If at times we are afraid With so little to believe in It's alright to feel afraid I will hold you in the dark All we know for sure is this Though the world could end tomorrow You and I will be together In whatever time we have YONAH In whatever time we have For as long as we are living JAPETH We know life can be a battlefield YONAH We can face whatever comes If we face it now as one JAPETH But we won't run and we won't yield You'll be my fortress and I will be your shield JAPETH and YONAH No one really wants to be alone In whatever time we have YONAH There are time I've been afraid In a world that's so uncertain Then I feel your hand in mine And there's courage in my heart JAPETH We could live a hundred years YONAH Or the world could end tommorow YONAH and JAPETH But we know we'll be together in whatever time From this day forward nights don't seem so black From this day forward we will never look back In whatever time we have We will make the most of time And at least we'll be together in whatever time We have [Thanks to CassDel2 for lyrics] [Thanks to Liss, Kristin for corrections]

I strongly agree
I got to sing this as a solo in 8th grade at a choir concert brings back great memories
This screams hollyleaf
You should hear Dinah Washington's version. I like it best of all.
The rainbow is a symbol of hope when the world is renewed after a storm.
I did this song for broadway nights (first real choir performance) and I got one of the solos it was so much fun also counting the beats are much harder than you think
Wow I remember sing this in primary school
Can someone comment lyrics for the song please?
I saw this musical when my alma mater performed it 2 years after I graduated. This is an absolutely beautiful song.
The original Book of Mormon
Please reply to my comment on this song called tell me it's not true.
Okay I'll reply to my own comment on this song called tell me it's not true lol 😂
This is the Stephanie Lawrence tell me it's not true and I think that one sounds more realistic also Stephanie Lawrence died at the age of 50 because she had to much alcohol and that's how she died.
The rainbow is clearly a symbol of hope, that God wants the world to continue despite its conflicts and many problems. But each of us is called to change what we can around us and bring hope to others.
Doing this song in choir and I have the second solo. Can’t wait!
Cool
I used to play this song, as a piano pupil in the 1970's and I loved it then, and more so now, that I heard the voice who sang it.
