A Tree to Tree crossing for fun and fitness.
Просмотров 1292 месяца назад
A tree to tree traverse/crossing using pre-set lines for the traverse. The tie-in point is around 30 feet. The trees are live Oaks. The location is Gadsden park in south Tampa, Florida. I normally do not climb much in the Summer but, I’ve been jonesing to climb as it has been damn near 2 months. It’s damn hot here in the summer. I already work in the heat as an irrigation/landscape person.

I love the challenge of climbing for what I call; The 3 F’s……. Fun, Focus and Fitness…But….. give me a chance to ascend effortlessly (like with the wraptor) and I’m in!! This thing is RAD!! This was our (my brother Fred & I) last climbing effort for 2023 in a local monster Eucalyptus that I keep a Throwline in. Happy New Year to all👍
I have BIG TRAK again….44 years later!!!

Yes, BIG TRAK….. I got this for Christmas in 1979!, I was 10 years old… I loved this thing n have thought about it often over the years. I remember the front axle broke on mine n probably got thrown in the toy closet where my mother would eventually get rid of it (probably when we were at school). I just never forgot about this thing and am grateful for e-bay to b able to have this again… Long ...

Traversing thru a cluster of pines…pt.1

This climb was filmed in April of 2022. I think this was the 2nd time I pulled this. These are the invasive Australian Pines that tend to voluntarily grow in groups. I really enjoyed this spot next to the scenic blue waters of the intra-coastal in St. Petersburg Florida.

Removing unwanted trees-Hoisting 500lbs…Solo.
Просмотров 125Год назад
We were contracted to remove this massive Fishtail palm that was planted to close to the house. Excavating had to b done by hand as all of the pool plumbing pipes were underneath it. I had some help digging it out and getting it out of the hole n to the street but, on the day of loading onto the truck, I was solo. All the more reason to break out the climbing gear n get to hoisting! The scales ...

Part 2 of my “3-way traverse”. Turns out I pulled this climb more than 3 times…. I found a lot of different footage that I had forgotten about.. This was probably the best footage. I didn’t include the descent cuz honestly, I had serious rope management problems… there was a lot of cussin goin on. I mean those damn ropes were twisted n hung up everywhere. This was probably my most gratifying cl...
Recreational climb, swing, traverse.

This climb was filmed in October 2021 at a local park here in south Tampa Florida. A small Oak that I was sessioning very regularly because of its branch formation, proximity to where I live and short set-up time. Needless to say…. I know this tree pretty well
Climbing/traversing throughout 3 Oak trees.. part 1

Another climb from Gadsden park in south Tampa, Florida. This climb (aka….A three-way traverse) was fun and ALOT of work! A few notes: I did this climb twice and filmed both times. I probably have 3-4 hrs of footage. This climb was filmed in March of 2022……….. I am very aware of the stresses I put on that gyro swivel (on my harness bridge) during the traverse……. That rope angle far exceeded 120...
Dropping an Oak tree with unknown guests inside!

I just found this! My brother ( who was operating the saw) myself and a friend dropped this rotten Oak in the summer of 2020. Momma raccoon took off and we recovered the babies n placed them in the bushes…… The next morning, they were gone. We believe she came back n got em!

That’s a good question… I’ve wondered the same thing. I climb at this park regularly for that very reason. I’ve never had any problems and mostly just keep to myself. The only thing is the onlookers asking questions n wondering what’s that guy doing in the tree…. Thanks for yr thoughts.

Heyyo, thanks a lot for all the cool tricks and insights! I also use a hook a lot, I love it, but never seen the grapler before, or the trick with the triple-rope where you push your handholder with the stich far up the rope (sorry for my english....) The only think I would constructivly mention is, that I think, that if the situation suits it, you need less force to pull you to your aim, when you're not trying to move directly towards "through the air", but first lower down a lot, and then ascent again like on a normal single rope. Probably you know that already.... Your tricks also seem to eliviate that somehow :) Cheers from germany!

Hello Hans from Germany!! Thanks for watching and the insightful thoughts…the main reason I was progressing so much horizontal was to get up n over several limbs n brush that were in the path…… A higher tie~in point would solve this! Thanks again for yr thoughts…..

The closest I have access to are pines n eucalyptus that are maybe 80’. The camping thing does sound like a blast. I’d b all over that… I really wanna for a rope elevator thing someday..
