Thank you so much for the knowledge, good sir. If you only look at the song being performed from an academic point of view then you can make many factual claims. Here, while honouring academia with the knowledge we managed to gather, we are looking at folk music as a lived experience. It's not so much about the particular song and more about how we play it, who we are and what can be imbibed through experiencing our version. We have played this song live many a time and particularly at Samhain/ Halloween time to evoke a certain feeling that connects everyone present in their experience. All we have in this life is how we experience it 🌞

Thank you for taking the time to comment. We share music, often folk music that has been passed on over centuries, with the intention of connecting with a wide audience of people today. So many people have been severed from their history and culture and lack the education required to access traditional music that is now held behind a barrier of academia. We do not claim to be historians first and foremost, we are here to share song and story with some historical background. I hope that anyone who sees this video and feels a spark of interest will look more deeply into the subject if it calls to them. We did indeed go for 'ye' sounded as 'yay' , the pronunciation as heard after the great vowel shift beginning in the late 15th century, and common amongst the understanding of the average person today. We do play at many folk clubs and always have a fantastic response to both our songs and stories. The aim of this series is to make these songs accessible to people who would perhaps would not go to a folk club. We are not beings of perfection, we share what we know and what we have with those around us so that we all may grow and encourage each other with less judgement. I hope your passion leads you to share your knowledge with others also.
