I am bicoastal having grown up in Tallahassee and Partly in Panama City proper ( not the beaches much ) 150 years ago. LOL seriously, I have only been able to go to Carrabelle and Ap and St. Geo's Island since I've been grown and married. I love it but I cannot get down to all that as much as I'd love to. Speaking of PC, I was at St. Andrew's marina when I was about 20 and I saw an older man "bothering" a brown Pelican. Instinctively I went over to see what I could do. The poor bird had fishing line wrapped all around it including it's head, so the old man asked me to help by holding the bird. He had a pocketknife and got the job done pretty quickly. At one point it came around and with open mouth it bit my whole face. So I know what a pelican's mouth smells like! It seemed to know we were trying to help it. I don't recall it flying off but it looked at us so gratefully. I think it expected a fish and I'm not sure how long it had been since it'd had food or drink. I'm sure the man was 60'ish. My age now and I'm sure he was lonely but I had to decline his offer to go get some coffee. My dad would not approved of that. Nowadays you'd have to call in a wildlife officer, what we did is probably not legal now. Lovely vid young folks! Bless.

Just FYI. The Smokey Mtns are actually IN the Blue Ridge Mtns not next to them. They are a sub set within the larger Blue Ridge.

I’d LOVE to see vortexes in or around vortexes. I flew on a plane with a woman from Texas who came to Asheville on a guerny each month, flew & spent a week, and walked back to the plane. Some incurable disease…can’t remember, it was 1998. She had 3 children & a husband in Texas. True story. ❤

I'm loving your videos! My husband and I are traveling to the Asheville area for a vacation and also to explore the area as a potential place to live. I'm from the Appalachian Foothills of Ohio (eastern Ohio) and my husband is from upstate NY so we miss the mountains and more scenic hiking! We currently live in Wisconsin. Any hikes that are a must-see while we're in the area? Also any towns that are your favorite? I love being close to hiking trails and towns with an artsy, hippie vibe. Thanks!!

In the park there are wild Azalias, Low Bush Blueberries and on the east side of the little creek leading to the Rancocus there are beautyfull White Birch trees and occational American Hollies with red berries in December and wild Persimons.. . at least thats the way it was 75 years ago when I used to play in the woods by the Rancocus. Playing in the woods when 12 years old connected me close to Nature which has influenced my life to having "Reverence for Nature" At 90 years o;d I remember and treasure every part of the woods by the Randcocus. . . 75 years ago the parkland by the Rancocus was my private playground. I was 12 years old. My Father and I built a small cinder block house on tthe old peach grove at corner of Creek road and Bortons Landing road. I used to run around naked by the Randcocus play like I was an Indian. The cornerr later I heard was called Formont Corners . . Greatest memories Charles Formont . . . / now Puerto Rico

If you're ever back in that area of the Florida Panhandle,you might want to check out Wewahitchka Florida nearby.It's the home of the Dead Lakes,Tupelo Honey and where the 1997 movie Ulee's Gold was filmed staririg Peter Fonda and Jessica Beil which was her first movie and won a Golden Globe award.Wewahitchka is about 20 miles from Mexico Beach.You might be able to find a cheap Air BnB there.

Mayberry's.closed down. The new place, Smokey Sunrise, is delicious. I live in Brevard. Moved here a year ago. The mountain biking is top notch.

My grandfather R. E. Brantley bought the theatre after it burned in the mid-1930s and ran it and B & B Chevrolet until his death in 1971. He was also mayor of Tryon and a senator.
