What a great game! The fact this does not run on a Mac is the worst news I have had in a long time.
I just tried this, But I glitched the pistons down into the seat for space savings and it does work; However once I get over 65-ish MPH the distance sensor starts to flicker and my pads randomly turn on and off. This wouldn't be a big deal if I was not using UFO drives as well ( and Yes I want them to trigger with all the other hover pads 'cause cool effect) so I can't get past 71mph, and oddly it works just fine under water over 65mph... I tried changing the start position of the pistons to have the sensor higher.. more in line with the characters head and still flickers above 65
Last time was Gimbal assisted. This time is pistons! Would you rather drive this version or the previous one?

There could be a number of reasons as to why it does that: *aerodynamics is not symmetrical *incorrectly flipped: -aerodynamic/wing pieces -hinge pieces *incorrectly assigned key binds *incorrectly linked logic components *unwanted glitches Go back to his video and compare yours to his one more time, check closely, listen closely, and if everything is 1 to 1, the plane you replicate should have no problem. But any modification you make after this should anything arise, you'll have to learn to debug yourself sooner or later.

they do most of the lift when in the air, gimbals alone can't lift itself.

i mean shit dude it isn't silent for sure but it looks like it preforms well. just very very ugly.
It will be silent if it's nowhere near the surface of the water and in water, that's its best environment. It's main is submarine and I've made sure it is appropriately tagged. And yeah my builds are mainly functional over looks.

Awesome use of the hover pads for stability!
can't do it alone with hover pads, it's in combo with gyros, speed sensors, angle sensors and a lot of pain figuring this one out. if it's just the with hover pads, you won't go above 30kph without the tail flopping around and ending up not a train... if it's just logics, it can turn, but problem is the train doesn't act like a train, 1) it's drifting, 2) the train doesn't bend at all... so once i got those 2 figured out, then this is the result

Or you could add a altitude sensor ant set it to trigger over -500 meters. That's a reliable way to get a constant output.
I find distance sensors set to 0.0 meters and inverted trigger to be best, you can bury them in a build and have a constant out put. I have been lower then -500 on the Stranded in Space map and my build stopped working. also if you set above mentioned sensor with a 0.01 output to most jet engines it will give instant full power, no ramp up time. works best on Dragon Jets
Just add a or logic block on toggle or a disstente sensor detecting your build.
Your first method: when in seat, and you toggle the hover pads off and then you get out, it will turn itself back on. As for your second method, sure it works, but have you thought about over water? Because distance sensors have limited range.
Assuming the distance sensor is facing the ground
You can make the distance scenter face your own build, and it will stay active. because of it seeing your own blocks.
I'll try this, if it's more effective then I'll use it

From my understanding, I put put my sensor facing my own build, link that to the hover pads, correct? This does not work, as the hover pads themselves has a NOT gate built into them which inverts any incoming signal that is linked to them when the player goes into and out of the seat. Edit: This is also used in other applications and is not limited to hover creations.

That, i would have to disagree with you. You'd only need to know 2 glitches to build this. The damper and the UFO engine, that's it The damper is just hover pads facing each other at close proximity. As for the UFO engine, is a hinge forcing a block into the hover pad.

Seasoned players likely already known this long ago, but I just wanted to share what I've discovered while trying to optimise my build...
I have all engines, but doesn't have the UFO engine, what is the reason?
@@HellTwin- if you mean you can't find it in the propulsion section then no it's not there. This is something you have to make yourself. see @0:40? the orange part is all you need for UFO engine.

This is an Artillery variant of the Support Cruiser. Notice how I aimed the cannons? Also every weapon is manual aim, except for the EMP.

Very nice Were you using ufo engines? Do you have any lore or story to it?
I did consider using UFO engine(s) but they hardly do anything now since we've got the massive thrusters at the back, so just used them as dampeners/tailfins/stabilisers. As for the lore/story, I don't have any for it, it's just an inspiration from a gacha game called Counterside and thought this looks nice but couldn't replicate the whole thing fully so ended up making my own thing.
