I live in his hometown and have bought several calls from his drugstore and he has gave me several pointers. He has a great Bbq restaurant too. A fine Christian feller he is. Proud to know him
I met Larry Proffitt in the late 90's at Fish Eating Creek Hunting camp in Florida. I was really a rookie (still am) and Larry helped me with meeting good custom call makers. He has given me tips to help my calling. Much later, I met Lewis Stowe. Between the two of them and the encouragement I received from them, I now take the suction yelpers and wingbone calls to the woods and do 90% of my calling with them. I am not Mark Prudhomme talent by any stretch of the imagination. But I want to hunt them my way and I get much more satisfaction from the hunt when I get it done with the suction yelpers made from artisans that call themselves custom call makers.
We really appreciate that feedback Joseph. You met not only two great turkey hunters but also two great men that left and will leave a legacy some folks won’t be able to match in their lifetime.
