Jenova 7 is the musical nom de plume of Boston local Michael J. Sirois (born 1989). His genres include trip-hop, downtempo, chill-out & instrumental hip-hop. He was featured on Mushroom Jazz 8, the latest volume of legendary DJ Mark Farina's iconic chillout compilation series. He is most recognized for the Dusted Jazz instrumental series, distinct for exploring jazz grooves, organic drum breaks & moody, cinematic vibes. His style is influenced by DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, DJ Cam & Portishead, as well as Golden Era hip-hop producers DJ Premier & Pete Rock. In 2010, after graduating from college with a degree in film, he moved to Los Angeles for a year & started releasing music with the trip-hop label Dusted Wax Kingdom. In 2013, he joined the Los Angeles based Cold Busted record label. A self-taught musician, his style has been inspired & guided by a versatile taste in music & a love for storytelling. Every album's a soundtrack to an imaginary film. His albums are a blend of past & present.

Wow, Lew without a baseball hat! I’ve loved both Lew and Jenova 7 for a long time, and I completely agree with Lew. The music by Jenova 7 is outstanding-definitely one of the best trip-hop artists around.

3 albums for the desert island: Santana Abraxas, Osibisa Woyaya & Led Zeppelin II - but having been in the music industry for over 22 years truly anything goes from classical jazz to trip hop...loved this interview...I have lots of Hendrix including rare albums....but i gotta say I absolutely love Jenova 7 & Mr Moods & beyond...
