@stephanietheravenclaw2835 if the box isn't responding I would unplug it completely from the wall. Wait and make sure that all power is disconnected, then try it. If it still doesn't work try power cycle the TV then try it. With Comcast/xfinity devices any Xtra voltage at all and the device will work weird or not at all. For example if you have a cable box hooked up through the hdmi ARC input on the the TV it will not work because it sends out a small amount of current from the TV and the cable box will store it till it brakes or is reset. Basically connect to a none arc hdmi on back of the TV. Power cycle the cable box and tv.then try.

OK so this might sound weird but, try disconnecting your box from your TV then power cycle your cable box. While your cable box is still disconnected hold the two buttons shown in the video and after you do this then connect the cable box to your TV. The reason for this is sometimes a TV may have electricity going to the cable box. Not enough to break it but enough to make it preform strangely.

The remote might be bad, take out the batteries and try again. If that doesn't work, look for any xfinity van and ask for a new remote they will give one to you. If you go to any xfinity store they will do the same. If the remote just needs to sync hold down a and b then push 987. This will sync the remote up to the nearest cable box.
It could also be from either a current coming from, a power strip or TV the cable box is connected to.
