Tbh, when 4 cars get there at the same time, (and let us suppose it's a busy stretch of time so that it' continuous like this), IMO by far the fastest and safest way is for cars on opposite sides to work in tandem: go straight at same time car on opposite side goes straigh, or turn left directly behind car on opposite side. The 'one car at a time' just leads to so much lag time and confusion...
US Americans think this is simpler than a roundabout.
'Murican here. Roundabouts are a lot nicer, I like whenever I encounter them. Stop and go when safe, and then keep in mind where you plan to exit. So much easier.
In summary: It depends.
