*Takuma:* (Crying outside in the rain over the death of his mother after she and several others were murdered in an abandoned house by a mysterious and terrifying monster ninja capable of possessing both the living and the dead) *Jubei Kibagami:* (Clenches fist around his sheathed sword as he leans on it for support, still weak from the injury and poison the monster inflicted earlier in their fight, but noticing the creaking of floorboards behind him within the the house) *Takuma’s Mother:* (Emerges slowly from the shadows inside the house to stand in the empty doorway, a drawn sword in her hand and her head hanging limply and looking down) *Takuma’s Mother:* “-Takuma.” *Jubei Kibagami:* “Don’t listen.” *Takuma:* (Turns to see his mother standing in the doorway of the house, gasping in a mixture of shock, hope, desperation and confusion before starting to approach) *Takuma:* “-Mother, is that you?” *Jubei Kibagami:* “-No, take a good look at her.” *Takuma’s Mother:* (Chuckles menacingly and lifts her head to look forward at Jubei and Takuma, her right eye glowing brightly with an unnatural green light as an evil smile crosses her lips, her form still standing in the shadows of the doorway) *Jubei Kibagami* (Slowly and unsteadily rises to his feet, still using his sheathed sword as support) *Jubei Kibahami:* “That thing is inside her.” *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* (Gives a short and evil laugh before speaking, the voice quickly shifting from that of Takuma’s Mother to that of the masculine, deep, and hateful voice of the monster, sounding distorted and reverberant, as if he were speaking through the mouths of many people at once) *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* “You humans are so pitiful.” *Jubei Kibagami:* (Turns to face the thing wearing Takuma’s Mother with an angry growl and snarl) *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* “You pride yourselves on your differences when you are all exactly the same, just meat in a sack.” *Jubei Kibagami:* “-Is that so?” *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* “-Face, torso, limbs, your precious body, what is it but a sack of flesh? Cut it open and there’s nothing but meat and bone inside. But I am not confined to just a single sack, doomed to spend my life cramped between the same meat and bone. I am free to borrow them at will and take whatever form I want. For all your skill you cannot hurt me.” *Jubei Kibagami:* (Clenches his teeth and snarls as he listens in impotent anger, his rage at the monster growing more and more, but knowing his skills with a sword are not enough to stop the monster) *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* (Gives a truly evil, twisted and sadistic smile before continuing) *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* “Cut open one sack and I will take another, and another. You have no chance of winning, you see.” *Jubei Kibagami:* “-No I don’t, huh?” *Jubei Kibagami:* (Reaches into his pouch and pulls out a small ceramic bomb of combustible oil, throwing it at the monster) *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* (Laughs hatefully at the seemingly futile effort, making Takuma’s Mother dodge the bomb which shatters and ignites on the doorframe, the flames slowly spreading into the house and illuminating Takuma’s Mother from behind so that her silhouette stands out darkly against the firelight, the unnatural green glow of the right eye shining like an evil star) *Jubei Kibagami:* (Grips the hilt of his sword and assumes a combat stance, readying himself to draw his weapon for the attack he knows will likely be coming) *Takuma:* (Gasps in a mix of surprise, sadness, horror and helplessness as he scrambles to the right of Jubei, trying to gain a little distance from the seemingly inevitable fight he is not prepared for) *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* (Grins widely and evilly as he makes Takuma’s Mother raise the sword above her in preparation for a lethal strike, rushing forward towards the cowering form of Takuma) *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* “-I’ll start with the boy!” *Takuma:* (Looks on in horror and heartbroken sadness, paralyzed in helpless fear as the monster controlling his mother prepares to use her to murder him, his small voice trembling) *Takuma:* “-Mother, don’t…” *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* (Partway through the killing strike with the sword, the mother’s arm stops in midair as if she’s fighting back against him from beyond the grave, his control over her seemingly faltering as he growls in rage and struggles to regain control) *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* “What is this? Why won’t it do what I want?” *Takuma:* (Watches in horror, sadness and confusion, tears and rain streaking down his face as he looks up at his mother’s body struggling not to kill him) *Jubei Kibagami:* (Watches, still gripping the hilt of his sword in readiness for an attack, sweat and rain beading down his face) *Jubei Kibagami:* “-You are wrong. We’re not just flesh and bones. There’s one thing more inside of us, the most important thing of all, the human heart!” *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* (Roars and struggles against the body of Takuma’s mother rebelling against him, her hand releasing and dropping the sword) *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* “-No, impossible, what are you doing? Obey me, obey me!” *Takuma:* (Watches in silent awe and terror at the sight playing out in front of him, tears and rain still streaming down his face) *Takuma’s Mother:* (Forces her body to turn and move towards the fire of the burning house, resisting the control of the monster inside her, pausing shortly in the flaming doorway to look back at her son) *Takuma’s Mother:* “-Takuma, you have followed me on my journey, but my journey need not be yours. You must choose your own path now. Grow up strong and free, my son.” *Takuma’s Mother:* (Lets the fires of the burning house consume her body and the monster hiding within) *Takuma:* (Screams desperately and reaches out a hand pleadingly towards his dead mother) *Takuma:* “-No, mother! Don’t go!” *Monster Possessing Takuma’s Mother:* (Roars and screams in rage and pain as the mother’s body begins to burn away in the growing flames, then he erupts from the flames and leave the burning body and house behind, rushing through the air towards the weeping and horrified form of Takuma, taking the form of a disembodied demonic eyeball glowing with the same unnatural green light from before, and surrounded by tendrils and rivulets of dark blue slime trailing behind it) *Jubei Kibagami:* (Quickly moves himself between Takuma and the monster, drawing his sword in a flash to attack the rapidly moving enemy and defend the young boy) *Monster:* (Quickly dodges the attack and maneuvers himself to get around Jubei, still intending to possess Takuma, hatefully refusing to let the mother’s sacrifice deny him his prize) *Jubei Kibagami:* (Spins and swings the blade again, catching the monster with the second attack just before it could possess Takuma, splitting the demonic eye in two) *Monster:* (Roars and screams in rage, pain and disbelief as the two halves of the demonic eye fall to the burning porch of the house and are engulfed by the flames, the monster’s voice fading away) *Jubei Kibagami:* (Watches grimly as the house burns, and slowly sheathes his sword back into its scabbard, rain still coming down as the sun sets below the forested hills) *Takuma:* (Stands beside Jubei in the rain, crying silently and watching the house burn)

Respect from Norway! One of the few that actually liked the series more than the movie. Wish it had a season 2. NS fan since 2006. Amazing music througout the series and this one is top bins.
