Painting Bare Brick Garage Walls | Garage To Workshop #3
Over 4 weekends I transform our garage from a dark and dingy place to somewhere nice to be!
In the process I fully wash all the walls (what a job that was...), roll on three coats of paint and hand finish the rest.

thanks for making this video. You saved my ears this morning!
I need to do my garage walls, but wondering how much time it took with a roller, versus just using the pot and a big fat wider brush and just slapping it on nice and thick. Ill find out next summer when I get round to it I guess :D
Did you just use water and fairly liquid to clean the walls
How about jet wash?
Should of used jet wash to wash all the walls the use a Dehumidifier to dry before paint
Thank you 🙏
I’m thinking I might have to borrow a jet wash 😅
Can you jet wash it ?
Did you post the video of you doing the floor tiles? I cannot seem to find it
Thank you, the video answered my questions.
Would you be interested in doing my double garage to promote on your RUclips channel? It's exactly a similar type of garage brick wall throughout, the ceiling sits beneath our property, so you can do plaster board to ceiling? Nice project for your channel! Location - South London
Lazy do it uourself
Can you use a patio pressure washer as a lazy option for washing the brick walls?
Hey what kind of paint did you use? Did you use anything specifically to fix the damp?
Hang on why do you need good weather to paint inside? 🤔
Paint dries too slow when it's cold, as it's an unheated garage, I guess. Most paints have a recommended temperature range too.
Very good video.
PVA is the wrong product
Hi Sir. I have a regular home alarm which is powered by mains and has a sealed lead acid battery. As per my understanding, these batteries last only up to two hours during a power outage. Having been told about about LiFePO4 and it longer hours of service, is it (1) possible for me to do a straight swap and will the system recharge the LiFePO4 battery when power is restored. Thanks in advance.
Interesting good info
Good info cool video
Those breezeblocks look a nightmare compared to the bricks. Thankfully mines all brick. Anyone tried a dry brush then vacuum instead of wet washing prior to paint?
Do you need to use a masonary sealant 1st? Ur garage looks great.

3:02 but my teeth are the best wire stripper I have 🤣
Do you need to paint the walls?
Not everyone is as lucky as you are 😂
All quality / commercial sealers come in 2 parts . When mixed together the sealer hardenes. This way a lot can be achieved in a very small time . Use P.V.A just as a liquid solution to bind down dust , nothing more .
Thank you. Would pressure washing the walls be ok instead of brush washing?
Very boring mate, you are a fist magnet.
Does this paint stop damp coming in?
Don’t do that. Damp will come half way through the brick work, have nowhere to go, then rise up and into your home if it’s connected. So I’m told.
what about the keypad not working
After a power cut I tried to reset my ADE Gen4 alarm. The 2 LED lights are both on, and the alarm is working when I enter my code, but I have a BLACK screen so I can't see the date/time etc. What could be the cause? Thanks
Why do some people say use pva as a primer and others say not to
Money. PVA will soften up again once it gets wet, whilst SBR won’t.
@@adsmaildepends if it’s indoors or outdoors
You don’t need to isolate the power to put in a battery 😂
Imagine doing it and it factory defaults 😂
Could you explain how I could light light ropes with batteries?
I need to do it very cheaply as I’ve large shed with old concrete walls that are dusty and constantly create dust.
O so simply explained no waffle thanks
I’m in the middle of doing up my garage and was wondering how you’d got on with the PVC tiles? There seem to be a lot of choice and for a single garage ranges from £160-600. Would you recommend the tiles you used? And any tips for installation? Thanks
So B&Q was selling stuff at half price when I noticed some Sandtex and I thought, "I could do the garage with that!" And that's where the long journey began! So I took all the rubbish out of the garage which revealed just how filthy it was resulting in a huge tidy up and throw out (which I wasn't expecting). That revealed a million holes in the walls so I thought, "I should fill those". Back to B&Q for brushes, rollers and cement. I had an old scraper that bound to manage just fine. Nope it didn't - back to B&Q for a pointing tool. Pointing began and contact dermatitis around my eyes later caused a visit to the GP, who said it was the worst they'd ever seen. After a lay off of several months I began again and two 5litre pots of cement later and I was finished. Painting was a real chore and only helped to showcase all my amateur cementing efforts (oh well). The walls 'did' look much fresher, however. Except the wooden beams on the ceiling looked grim by comparison so I went to B&Q and bought a hand sander and created a sand storm across the street as I got carried away smoothing those hideous wooden planks. The sanding revealed some horrible cracks in the wood so I went to B&Q and got some wood filler which worked fine and stuck to my fingers too. Now that the walls are done the ceiling looks terrible so i thought, "Why not paint that too?" So I went to B&Q . . . and that's taken two years so far . . . . 🥴
😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This really made me laugh! I can relate!!
Do you need to clean the walls of a new house?
Super helpful video, thanks very much. Some of those links have since expired btw. Any suggestions on what I would need to add to the setup if I wanted the lights to be dimmer? I'm not looking to light up a garage space rather something within a display cabinet.
Dead looking eyes, lol loved that!
Who has the time to do all this messing about. What do you do with all the stuff in the garage while going through this pantomime? Leave it outsiide for three weekends? A very impracticable method and not one I will be using.
Looking forward to seeing your video on this subject
This is my problem. I can't leave stuff out for a week. There has to be an easier way?
@@raybarber9837yeah just pour a few buckets in the corner and let it work it’s magic

did you prepare and paint the cinder/breeze blocks, in the exact same way you did the bricks? Thanks
Funny how even the seemingly easiest of tasks, painting a wall white, is actually a lot of work. I can't be arsed doing mine now.
ditto

Yeah, he’s put me off 😕
huh. it does look like milk

some good videos mate, enjoy your humour!
Why not just jet wash it?
I had no way to get power or water into the garage as it's not directly connected to our hose so had to do it by hand.
wtf ?
