Season Two - What Can A Patient Do To Speed Up Recovery Time AFTER a Hip or Knee Replacement?
After this procedure, what happened to the little finger deflection. I have this for the past 5 years or so. Recently I felt that I'm losing strength in my grip. I'm not certain if I want to go thru with this because of hearing that is very painful.
Good patient.
I had Xiaflex injections back in 2016 [8 years ago] The hand is still flat. It hurts like hell for about 1 minute but well worth it.
I need this done 😢
With all the negativity, I will add my success story. 4 years later and it’s just now started to come back. Going back for another round in about 3 months. It changed my life and allowed me to keep my job.
This is well explained! AMAZING!!! I HOPE ALL THE LEARNING VIDEOS ARE LIKE THIS, STRAIGHT FORWARD AND WITH A MODEL THAT THE VIEWER/LEARNER CAN FOLLOW AND SEE VISUALLY.
I had three injections, very painful, and the day he straightened my finger there was no deadening he just grabbed my finger and bent it when I wasn't ready for it, yea it didn't feel too good. My finger is still straight, have issues on both hands on other fingers and on palm.
This treatment sucks.
Thankyou. 😀
Mine lasted 8 years and is recurring slightly on a different finger. Try radiation therapy
Wow ! Didn’t see that coming! Now I know what I have to look forward to ! Eek !
This guy was super dismissive of my knee pain. Told me it was something I would have to deal with the rest of my life. Flash forward three years later, my much more competent doctor told me I needed a knee replacement. If you have knee issues go to Dr Moby Parsons. He knows what he’s doing.
A few years ago I had three Xiaflex injections on three 90 degree bent fingers and, unfortunately, all three fingers are back to the pre-Xiaflext positions. No more for me but, hey, everyone is different and it might work for you. Best to all of you who have this condition.
@Cosmic Kid The injections themselves were about a 6 out of 10 on the pain scale. On the second day, when the doc gave me gave me a shot on my then-swollen palm to make sure the manual manipulation was painless, I was in extreme pain! I know it is not a broken bone or anything like that but for that brief moment I would say the pain was 9.5 out of 10. Thankfully, the doc gave me a mild sedative that I took an hour before the manual manipulation and that relaxed me quite a bit... and then the pain of the shot became a reality.
HI Mike, how long did it take for your fingers to go back to the pre xiaflext positions? I have friends that have done the surgery, including my mother that say they would never do it again... I have a neighbor that had the injections, she is back to where she was before and said she would never do it again ... I just dont know what to do...
@@webringbrazil2u Good evening, Christine! I would say it took about one year and some change before my three fingers went back to the pre xiaflex condition. Over the years I also had six surgeries on four different fingers and all have returned to their crooked condition. I am almost 75 years old so no more procedures for me of any type. Your being much younger might be a good reason to give it a try, in hopes of some improvement, even for a fairly short while. Best to you in making the right decision, Christine. Kind regards. Mike
this is bullshit. mine lasted 4 months and it came back.
i had this done in 2019 didnt fix it it all useless glad i didnt have to pay for it but sad for the NHS ... if your doctor suggests this dont do it its worthless.
💪💪💪
I am proud of you.
Why am I having pain with every step at top of leg ... anterior....11weeks post hip surgery...
sir I have met with an accident and my little finger(middle phalanges) was broken and doctor treated me with a splint. sir after healing ,the healed bone gains normal bone strength and is there any chance to break while punching after healing?
I had this treatment in 2016 and must say it has superb results, my hand was much worse than this guys. Curled up fingers like a claw. In the UK where I live we have TheNational Health service which is free. This treatment is not covered by it and you have to pay private for it. It costs £1500 [about $2000] for one vial of Xiaflex. Luckily our local hospital was doing trials on it so offered it to me for free [as a Guinea Pig I guess] Day 1 - hand inspected and Xiaflex injected. It hurts like hell but only for about a minute while he did 6 injections in the cord. Bandaged up and returnrd 24 hours later. Day 2. hand cleaned and anesthetic injected, this also hurt like hell for about 1 minute while injecting. Wait 10 minutes for hand to numb. Doc then snapped back the fingers [last 2 fingers] and it made a noise like breaking a carrot in half. It didnt hurt at all though. The fingers went back to a normal straight position. They made a splint to hold my hand straight. The hand was bruised and the injection points did split open a bit but nothing major. I was driving in 2 days and working in a week. 5 years on it is still fine . Get Xiaflex if you can.
Hi Davey. Which Hospital did you attend? I'm looking into this too. Same issues as you but my local NHS Hospital have been no help at all in giving my information.
@@hazchem1 Blackburn Lancs. They were doing a trial on Xiaflex so I got it for free. Not sure if it is available on the NHS
@@jibjab351 Thanks for that. Having been back online looking at it today, I think there's no license for it in the UK now. Typical. Thanks for your reply.
@@hazchem1 The doc said if it returns they can do the jabs again, this was 5 years ago. Might be worth checking out if it is available in the UK?
Doc sais one vial of Xiapex cost £1500 so certainly not cheap. must be made of Unicorn tears?
He don’t know how to repairs tendon please don’t let him to touch nobody’s feet.
Hello, It is interesting. Awesome. Cool. Excellent 👍👊❤️❤️❤️❤️
where is the bursa
I love this Doc!!!
Tkr is a failed treatment for arthritis and hence should not have been done at all.avoid
Please do you know If there are same treatment avaliable in Brazil!! Im realy in paifull with same problem.
Appreciate this informative video!
How about an address??
Hi Taryn! We're located at 1900 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth, NH USA.
Went through this exact procedure at Ralph Johnson VA Hospital, Charleston, S.C. unsuccessfully. The cord did NOT break. The Doctor said the Xiaflex liquid cost over $3,000.00 Such an expensive medicine that is not 100% guaranteed to breakdown the cord. Waste of money...
I had mine done and was 100% successful, as it seems to still be a trial procedure in many places maybe down to the doctor lack of expertise or just that it only works for some people.
Ok. Ses yah soon _ -Daren
This is my amazing Dr Sastry who performed my second knee replacement this week. I am so very thankful for his expertise! I am walking and doing well!
I appreciate the clear explanation of this growing problem! Best I can find. Thank you.
Great doctor.
Thank you for producing these videos. I learned a lot especially about labral tears, stiffness and exercises. I have little doubt that watching it will benefit patients in my family practice in Ireland. Huzzah!
