Dialing in fitment by installing a shortened oil pan & adjusting coilovers | Cali MK1 S2 E6
The front of the car always sat a little high due to needing the ground clearance for the VR6. Checked another big item off the list in this episode by installed a shortened oil pan from iABED Industries and an OEM VW MK5 R32 oil pump. I also had a lower brace to install from S&P Automotive, which is a necessary "while you're in there" mod because one of the control arm bolts can only be removed with the oil pan off or the engine lifted. Finished off with a coilover adjustment to really dial in the stance and fitment!

In this episode... the VR6 swapped MK1 Rabbit gets an Autotech front sway bar, as well as Autobahn Autoworx ball joint extenders, and some eBay special bushings for a tie rod flip to fix the front suspension geometry after lowering. In this episode I design some adapter brackets to fit MK6 Golf GTI seats to the S&P Automotive universal seat bases for the MK1 Rabbit. In this episode, I fix a couple of fuel leaks that I've had since installing the fuel system, diagnose and fix the loose wheel bearing problem, and attempt to fix the temperature gauge. I've been using braided fuel line, which is quite still and doesn't like to bend around tight radii easily.
