    I operated the same model for a farmer at sth Burracoppin. We ripped up with shearer scarifier and seeded with a massey ferguson 7000 7 ton box with a 259 40 ft bar with thomas tynes . They were a lovely tractor to drive. I did 4 seedings in it. They were a rugged well built machine as good as any steiger or versatile.

    When i did my grandfathers old f14 i used 16ga. Steel no galvanized tin and fusion welded it in place no excessive welding just bead rolled the pan and cut to fit and installed it and welded in a set of bungs and a filter for the fuel feed and the drain both at the lowest point not staggered. Later we made new bottoms for his F30 distillate tractor which had two tanks one outside the other but formed into the main kero tank.

    Very interesting, a question I have for anyone who wants to add their thoughts or experiences, so here it goes, a car door, which was previously paint stripped via an acid dip to bare metal, bearing in mind the door has been sitting for over a year so some flash rust has appeared, the question is would you dip a car door in this solution to remove the flash rust? following this process the door will get primed and then spray painted the usual way !

    A early New Holland 275A. Good balers, we have a late series 275A. It has been a trouble-free baler in the 15 years we've owned it. It does between 1500 - 2000 bales a year on 6 acres of land doing 3 cuts a year (we average 1800mm of rain a year in our part of Australia). We pull ours with either a David Brown 880 selectamatic or a 990 Selectamatic. I occasionally do some contract baling with it but with our SAME Dorado 85, it's a lot quicker on the road and registered and way more comfortable. I had an early Leyland Nuffield 344 was a good tractor.

    • @davidrobertson376
      @davidrobertson376 12 дней назад

      I always enjoy hearing about someone who has had a good experience with Leyland tractors. The David Browns would be ideal for the 275 Baler with plenty of gear choice

    Yes your right in this video but he also smooth out the steep side to make them more smooth and planted water reeds and willows which promoted aquatic life- also dump cow dong on the grassed area which boost fertility when it rains creating new soil

    • @brookdalefarm7986
      @brookdalefarm7986 13 дней назад

      Hi, yes you make good points. We haven’t flattened out the sided as we can’t easily get a machine in to do it. We are planting all along the creek line. We haven’t finished fencing this section yet so haven’t planted here yet. We are feeding the cows near here which leaves a lot of mulch and cow poo close by which is helping the soil fertility. Thanks from Geoffrey

      Hi Cindy, yes shearing is a very hard job on your back, but they can also make very good money. For lambs wool we sort long and short wool and take out all the hocks, bellies and top knot. For full grown sheep there are more catogeries we sort into. Thanks from Geoffrey

    We’re in Orroroo, Goyder’s line territory, running mostly sheep but a sharefarmer does a bit of “opportunistic cropping” as my dad would say. With resting paddocks, sheep feed has been okay until now, and with only 4 maybe 5 inches in the growing season, the sharefarmers got something worth reaping. So we’ve probably come out of it ok

    Some overseas farmers build suitable bird boxes on the fence line to encourage fly catcher types to hang around. Has anybody tried it? Did it work? Can it be used to eat the maggots if they do strike? If it does then it would be cheaper and safer than chemicals, crutching, etc.

    • @brookdalefarm7986
      @brookdalefarm7986 13 дней назад

      Hi Peter, we do have a lot of fly catcher birds around here, and they do eat a lot of flys, but there always seem to be more flys. We use to put out a lot of fly traps as well and trap thousands of them. The trouble is that when the wind blows it blows in an new mob of flys from miles away, so it is hard to get onto of the fly problem enough to stop fly strike. Thanks from Geoffrey

      @@brookdalefarm7986 Sounds pretty bad. There will be a solution. Nature loves opportunity. All part of the ecosystem parallel narrative Regenerative Agriculture promotes. E.g. getting your neighbours involved in bird boxes might reduce the number of tourist, unwanted immigrant flies. Every pest has at least one predator.

    I’d completely forgotten until I saw your bailer. But as a kid growing up on the farm, I had a little toy hay bailer (a bit bigger than matchbox sized). It had a number of little plastic hay bales that you loaded into it and as you towed it around the floor or table it’d push a plastic bale out the back every so often. Your bailer looks just like a bigger version of the toy I had as a youngster.

    In W.A., if you move overwidth items irregularly, carried on the tray of a vehicle, you need a single-trip permit from Main Roads W.A. If you move overwidth items regularly, you need to become accredited with the MRWA, and undergo their overwidth course training to become accredited. A single-trip permit is only $25 and can be obtained online. If you move overwidth without a permit and get caught by the Police or Transport Inspectors, it will cost you a $1000 fine. A mate with a tilt-tray got caught overwidth without a permit, at 6:00AM on a Sunday morning, by Transport Inspectors. He should've known better, he's a professional with a $350,000 Mercedes tilt tray truck. If you're a farmer, you can move agricultural implements in W.A. without a permit, by driving or towing them on the road, but you must still obey all the overwidth laws requirements (including the requirement for escorts, when over 3.5M wide), and not exceed a speed that is 20kmh less than the posted speed limit for the section of road you're on, with a maximum overwidth speed of 80kmh.

    That is not a "Fordson" grader, it is a Malcolm Moore Power Grader. It was built on the original Wehr Power Grader design. Wehr produced the first of their graders, the Wehr One-Man Power Grader in Milwaukee in 1922, with the patent for the design taken out in Dec 1921. Wehr used the standard Fordson tractor bolted straight into their grader frame. In 1925, Malcolm Moore imported the Wehr grader into Australia, using Australian-assembled Fordson tractors as the power unit (Ford established their factory in Australia in 1925). Malcolm Moore built the Wehr Power graders from about 1926, and Lynas Motors Perth, being the primary Ford car and truck dealer for Western Australia, distributed the Wehr Power graders, as well as Ford cars and trucks. Wehr Power Graders were available in wheeled and tracked versions, using the Fordsons with wheels or the Trackson track system. During the 1930's, Malcolm Moore's engineering business improved on the Wehr grader, and started construction of their own designs of motor grader - leading to the Malcolm Moore Road Master and Malcolm Moore Power Master lines of motor graders from 1940 onwards. You really need to jack up the front end of that grader, get the weight off the steering linkages and knuckles and pump some moly disulphide grease into the front end. And you NEVER try to turn the steering with the machine stopped, it's so much easier to turn the steering wheel when the machine is moving a small amount. If you think that old grader has heavy steering, you should try a "knucklebuster" Cat 12 with manual steering, it makes you think and plan every movement of the steering, using wheel lean, slopes, and taking the weight with the moldboard!

      Hi, thanks for all the information. We have one of that later Malcom Moore graders with a fordson P6 in the museum too. Usually I do have it moving when I am trying to steer it. Thanks from Geoffrey

      Hi Dave, it certainly changes the way they make hay. Do you use something similar over there? Thanks from Geoffrey

      @@brookdalefarm7986 I have heard about a Lucern hay producer who had made one but never seen it. This one you showed is really good with the chains that place the row back in place with such little disturbance. The rotary rakes are gaining popularity here. I would like one of them but manage with a wheel rake and a roller bar like your new rake.

    I've seen this done a few times before with the old nh 851, looks like they do a good job of it , and they are much cheaper than a hay rake too, I'm still using mine to make rounds though.

      Hi, yes there are still a lot of the 851s making hay. You can pick up an old one cheap now to strip down. Thanks from Geoffrey
